The Role Of Friar Lawrence In Romeo And Juliet
Friar Laurence once a man of god: Now a assistance to Satan

In William Shakespeare's drama Romeo and Juliet, the person to blame for the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet is Friar Laurence. Throughout the drama, Friar Laurence makes not only one but three mistakes that all lead up to their deaths. He gave a hand crafted poison to Juliet, he trusted someone else with a letter of importance to deliver to Romeo, and he fled the scene at Juliet’s tomb, instead of trying to help her escape. When Friar Laurence made such terrible choices, he evidently doomed Romeo to his death, therefore leading Juliet to take her own life.

For one thing, Friar Laurence was a man of God, however the choices he made was not so godly. Friar Laurence made a huge mistake that he could of avoided, if only he had thought out his plan more precisely. In act 4 scene 1, Friar makes Juliet a hand crafted poison that he does not know will work. Friar Laurence: “Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off…

In the play Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence was the one to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. First, Friar Laurence didn't deliver the letter to Romero in time. In Act Five, Scene Two Friar Laurence stated "Who bare my letter, then, to Romero". I believe that Friar Laurence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence was the one that gave Juliet the potion that made her appear dead, therefore misleading Romeo and causing him to kill himself. Friar Laurence says “Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run A cold and drowsy humor; no pulse, no warmth, no breath.” When Friar Laurence was figuring out this plan he could had come up with something safer or a backup plan just in case something went wrong. He also should had thought of the pros and cons of this plan before he went through with it because he was faced with a huge problem when the plan could not get through to Romeo and…

This was definitely not the best idea. If Friar Laurence did not give that idea to Juliet to fake her death then Romeo would not have commit suicide. Also, Friar Laurence should not encourage her to do something so drastic. Firstly, right after Romeo is banished Juliet comes to him for help; however, instead of being an adult, he gives her a poison to put her in a deathly sleep. Friar Lawrence is a major character that has a lot of pull in the play, but he’s also easily pushed into things he shouldn't agree with. When Juliet comes to him in hope of something to take her to Romeo he gives her a potion made of a plant. She’s not even put in a casket. This then brings us to the second issue that Friar Lawrence make, he trusts people with things they should not be trusted…
