The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control

Gun violence in the United States happens annually which results in thousands of injuries and deaths. In 2013 the Center for Disease Control and Prevention calculated that more than 33,000 people have died due to firearms that year. Therefore, gun control would be a great addition to the United States to keep people safe. If you don’t know what gun control is, gun control is a set of laws or policies that state that civilians can not have possession or have use of any firearm. Gun control laws are effective and they are necessary because the toll for deaths and or injuries due to firearms will decrease.

So the cons would be a disadvantage for it. A con for having gun control is that it would not prevent criminals from obtaining guns and or breaking the law. Lott, Jr. states "The problem with such [gun control] laws is that they take away guns from law-abiding citizens, while would-be criminals ignore them." This statement means that law enforcements take away guns from people/citizens that a registered to have a gun but i guess they let the criminals keep their firearms so they can commit crimes, maybe the law enforcements don’t know that they are criminals. From the same, same passage they talk about Chicago and there problems.
