1 Current agricultural practices are far from sustainable. If the growing population is to be fed we must revise the current practices, mainly animal agriculture. Cutting down or out the practice of animal agriculture can save enough water to supply an increase in the far more sustainable organic farming. It is seriously unfortunate that the political leaders of today are so distracted by terrorist attacks, immigration, and spreading rumors about each other, that no one seems to be mentioning the most important resource around and how we should be protecting it. Sacrificing thousands of gallons of water in order to produce a single pound of beef or cheese or milk is so obviously unsustainable, yet no one seems to be talking about it, not even the major environmental groups. After watching the documentary Cowspiracy, I realized that even groups like the Sierra Club and Greenpeace are not educating people about the seriousness of animal agriculture for its wasteful water practices. Greenpeace may publish gruesome images of cattle being mistreated, but who really looks at those disgusting images and decides to stop eating meat? Not anyone I know. Seeing major environmental organizations avoid talking about this issue, and seeing the faces of the executives responsible for speaking as the company look baffled and frankly scared to answer questions having to do with animal agriculture was frightening. Why is it that more people are not talking about this? Why is it that these large organizations are doing the earth a injustice by continuing to tell the public that they are responsible for the current environmental problems like water and air
