Cassie is a nanny who has recently moved to Washington DC. Unlike her previous jobs in NJ where she found her own interviews through various matching sites, Washington primarily sources nannies, babysitters, and housekeepers through agencies because of complex household employee taxes within the district and employment laws for government employees and officials. Cassie has many years of experience both as a nanny and in the corporate world, political and legislative experience, and government relations experience that creates a very desirable skill set for the many political families seeking a caregiver. She has been scouted by several different agencies, but has chosen to attempt to get an elite position from a different agency first. She is applying to be taken on by White House Nannies, a very prestigious firm and is interviewing for a…
Through the first presidential debate, Hillary Clinton has proved that she is the best choice for President. First, she proved that she is more empathetic to the common American. She herself came from a middle-class family. During the debate, she preached about her hardworking father, who worked in drapery. Trump came from a wealthy family, so he cannot relate to average Americans as well as Clinton can. She then expressed her desire for tax cuts for the middle class, and tax increases for the rich. She also mentioned how she intends to create 10 million jobs by investing in industries such as “clean energy”. She proved that she will do her best to make everyday life better for them. Next, she behaved more professionally then her opponent,…
Due to her activism, and her effectiveness, Harris began to attract attention. Appearing on the Dick Cavet Show with her husband, Harris became the focal point of the interview. Noting that she “had been in the news a great deal lately…” Cavet declared, “as you know it’s not always good when a wife gets in the news in Washington, but in this case it is.” Cavet added that Harris was “in the Man In The News section of the Times, [so] they had to change it to Woman In The News…” He then observed that, “It’s kind of rare in Washington that a wife gets to come out and be in the papers herself.”…

My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…
The 2016 Presidential Election was easily the most negative Election in recent history. Apart from my policy disagreements with President Elect Trump, I am morally repulsed by his conduct. My Hispanic friends were offended by the insinuation a that Mexican immigrants were criminals and a unwanted burden on the United States. My female friends were terrified by his misogyny and open, joking (at best) attitude towards sexual assault. I was disgusted by his disdain for the environment and the truth.…

If I were to describe my political ideology, I would consider myself mostly liberal with some independent views. I believe in equality for everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. I think Americans need to be a little more accepting, and open to reaching out and helping those in need. This country needs to continue moving forward and growing, and I do not see that happening with a conservative in charge.…
Political scientists and commentators have discussed the personalization of politics for some years. Personalization refers to ‘the notion that individual political actors have become more prominent at the expense of parties and collective identities’ (Karvonen, 2010: 4). In media coverage, this trend is manifested in the form of increased visibility of candidates and more precisely of party leaders compared to their parties. In fact, many surveys have pointed out that the political power that the candidates hold affects the amount of coverage they receive, with party leaders and the candidates of the party in office becoming more prominent during the election campaign (Tresch, 2009; Schönbach, de Ridder, & Lauf, 2001; Wolfsfeld & Sheafer,…
After thinking and realizing what I stand for in the classroom, I came up with these three philosophies that identify me. I believe that every student is a special education class can learn. Regardless of the child and their disability I believe that every child in a classroom is able to learn. It does not matter how small the progress is just as long as there is progress. I believe that inclusion has both positive and negative aspects on teachers and students. Inclusion allows students to be mainstreamed with peers their age. This gives them a chance to be around students their age as well as learn new things. Sometimes inclusion causes special services student to act out. This happens because they are not familiar with the information and they act out so they will not be embarrassed because their lack of knowledge. Finally, I believe that one-on-one time with special education students is valuable. Working with students…

Reluctantly smearing sunblock over every exposed inch of my fifty-three pound body, I prepared mentally for the arduous task that lay ahead of me. After several miserable fishing ventures which had left my skin red and my hook bare, I felt certain that, at last, my day had arrived. I stood ready to clear the first hurdle of manhood, triumph over fish. At the age of seven, I was confident that my rugged, strapping body could conquer any obstacle. Pity the fish that would become the woeful object of the first demonstration of my male prowess.…

Over the course of human history, there have been many instances where one has stood up against society for what he or she believed was right. With that, comes sacrifice. There will always be a group that will support the ideas presented, but there will also be the rest of society that will have strong arguments in opposition. Everyone was created to think differently to give rise to diversity in our world. Why should anyone feel uncomfortable when sharing his or her thoughts and beliefs with society, just because they may not be the popular opinion? Ralph Waldo Emerson, author of Self-Reliance, says, “To believe our own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men - that is genius.” A single person’s ideas could be the catalyst for the next step towards a positive development in society. Individuals need to confidently speak up for what they believe in, because the status quo of society is not always correct. We, as people, must consider Emerson’s words, and recognize the importance of individualism and how great an impact one can make by simply trusting in oneself.…
