Personal Narrative: My Political Ideology
If I were to describe my political ideology, I would consider myself mostly liberal with some independent views. I believe in equality for everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. I think Americans need to be a little more accepting, and open to reaching out and helping those in need. This country needs to continue moving forward and growing, and I do not see that happening with a conservative in charge. My views have changed quite a bit in the last several years. I was raised in the South, by a conservative Christian family. I was forced to go to church every Sunday, and was pretty much brainwashed to believe certain things. As a teenager, I was more on the conservative side of the scale. I let …show more content…
Almost every time I turn on the tv, or go online, I hear about yet another shooting. These shooting are happening everywhere, from schools, and churches, and even in movie theaters. It is frightening going out in public, knowing anybody could have a gun and ready to attack. If you look at statistics, the number of shootings in America is far greater than any other country. Obviously, something needs to be done about this. There absolutely needs to be some kind of better gun control laws. There is no reason that just any mentally unstable person can get a hold of a gun and kill countless innocent victims. I am all for Americans having the right to protect themselves, however, there needs to be some kind of change to help get this country to a safer …show more content…
One example would be the death penalty. Unlike many liberals, I am not against the death penalty. There are some crimes that are just not forgivable. If somebody is cruel enough to take someone else’s life, they have no right to continue living their life. There are certain cases where life in prison is the right choice, but I am not against the death penalty if the circumstances are right. I believe we are all born equal and should be treated that way. We should only be judged by our actions, and not things we cannot control, such as the color of our skin,, or gender, sexual orientation or

Some of the things that I agree with on the republican side is their stance on abortion and gun control. I agree that things such as Planned Parenthood should be shut down. I feel as if a person should not be able to abort a baby just because they want to. There are better options such as adoption, for people to turn to rather than just getting rid of a baby…

People are getting terrified and sad because of all the shootings that are happening in many different states. In the article “Famous Speeches: "We call BS," Emma Gonzalez's speech to gun advocates”, by Emma Gonzalez it talks about how all of these shootings are going down but it is not always the victims fault and the shooters in Florida do not need a permit or a gun license which is not safe. In the article “Issue Overview: Guns in America”, by Bloomberg, talks about how there are many deaths every year in many different states and how guns have spreaded tremendously throughout years. Shootings happen numerous times and that is either because they are depressed or something got into their head but many people think it is wrong to go around…

President Obama briefly mentioned gun control stating “Doing nothings is also an option.” There is need to focus on Gun Control right after a major tragedy yet nothing gets done. The ever so charming Donald Trumps has his input, making it more about himself then the victims affected, Trump is endorse by the NRA and states he will “get to the bottom of this,” not too likely. There is a place for the second amendment in our constitution, yet the way its intrepid can have severe consequences. The NRA has lobbied the Dickey Amendment which banned fund going to the Center of Disease Control (CDC) for doing research on gun violence, and promoting gun control. The upcoming week will be a game changer in the ways gun are seen in America, and the place high power semi-automatic weapons has in our society. There is a belief that everyone should had a gun, everyone in that night club should have had one, yet it makes you think what kind of country we are creating for ourselves were we go to a public place and bring a weapon just in case someone comes in with a weapons wanting to kill the whole room. Gun was not the only culprit Mental Health plays a big part in this incident, yet we see little from the government to help those who suffer with it every day. There has to be a major rethinking and how this country has too approach this problem, so far nothings have been done. Background checks are not evil at all it just one…

My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…

The 2016 Presidential Election was easily the most negative Election in recent history. Apart from my policy disagreements with President Elect Trump, I am morally repulsed by his conduct. My Hispanic friends were offended by the insinuation a that Mexican immigrants were criminals and a unwanted burden on the United States. My female friends were terrified by his misogyny and open, joking (at best) attitude towards sexual assault. I was disgusted by his disdain for the environment and the truth.…

In recent years there has been a substantial amount of gun violence, especially toward children and college campuses. One main issue I have with our government that impacts me as an individual and student is gun legislation laws. There have been too frequent amounts of mass shootings in the last two years in populated areas such as movie theatres, shopping malls, and education institutions, which should be addressed to those in power. People seem to get guns fairly easy whereas requirements to obtain a driver’s license or adopt a pet requires a much more difficult process. The recent shootings affect everyone not just within the community where the tragedy occurred but nationwide. Blow ups of killers, and mass murders…

Each day in the US, more than three thousand gun related crimes take place. These include murder, robbery, rape, and other kinds of assault. This country needs to make better gun laws to protect everyone from crime. The way things are today with each state making its own gun laws. In some states, for example, it is legal for almost anyone to buy a gun. The result of this mishap of laws is that people who live stricter states can take advantage of the weaker laws in other…

When it comes to all of these choices, I would define myself as a conservative. I think this for two reasons. For starters, I believe in personal responsibility and a free pursuit of a person's goal the issue believes the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals. This belief should be followed due to the fact that if everyone follows one point of view, the world would be a communist country. This can go for people like artists. For some parts of the world, they think that artists are just people who are too lazy to get a professional career such as if the earth didn’t have art, the world would just be too average and…

It is horrific how many gruesome attacks are taking place around the country. Most attacks involve mentally ill people shooting innocent people going about their everyday life. Think back to the heartbreaking day as Sandy Hook Elementary was fired upon. The security guards, principles, and most importantly the teachers were all defenseless. Many children lost their lives that day due to a person that was well armed and with protectors unequipped. People should be allowed to openly carry guns in Texas because of the danger that could possibly take place at anytime; they would have protection for themselves and others.…

There has been an increase in mass shootings in the United States over the past 10 years. AJ Willingham states that the United States is accountable for 31% of all public mass shootings which is the largest percentage of mass shootings in the world. This is happening because there are no laws restricting the use of guns in any way, shape, or form. The government says they are going to change things and make stricter laws, but time and time again there is another shooting and still nothing comes from the government’s side of things. No one feels safe to go outside at night in their neighborhoods or safe to go to that one side of town that everyone knows is trouble. America is supposed to be the land of the free, but being in constant fear of being a victim in a mass shooting is not…

Is liberalizing Waynia in the best interest of the country?? I believe it definitely is. When you look at all the positives that come from being a part of a liberalized country, it is the clear-cut choice. Free trade is something that comes with being liberal. When you see how free trade can open up so many new markets to you and your country, you'll see that it is the only choice. Along with free trade, you need to look at how conservatives think that input into political matters when you're not a noble or king is bad. Liberal belief is that contribution of thoughts and ideas coming from all people is a good thing. If you have an idea about how you could reduce taxes, or how you could remove tariffs restricting your business then by all means, let it out. That is the great thing about liberalization; freethinking is encouraged to help better supply your country with your own opinions. The final thing I want to harp on is freedom from religious persecution. You no longer have to worry about who to worship, or how to worship, but rather take into account all religious thoughts and chose for yourself what suits you best.…
