The Other Wes Moore: Book Report
The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore is a very interesting book about 2 boys that grew up in similar neighborhoods, had similar family problems and then had two very different futures. The author Wes Moore graduated military school and joined he army, after his years of service he saw in the news paper that a man named Wes Moore was arrested for a jewelry heist. This caught Wes' attention and he decided to read about this random man who had the same name as him and he figured out that this man that Wes has never heard of is about the same age of him and grew up in almost the same place as him. And this lead Wes to the question, "how were our futures so different". And that inspired Wes' to write this book. Wes might not know where there futures

    America is more corrupt than some would like to admit. Concerning the government, very powerful people have a tendency to abuse their power. With the idea that such things exist, why have there not been more successful tactics to stop it? It seems as though the government is much more concerned with stuffing their pockets than improving lower class society. Regarding the government, they say that they are going to take action, but there is rarely ever truth in that statement. Above the destitute are people that have more money than they could ever spend away. In addition, there are people struggling to survive in less fortunate areas of America that could live months off the daily salary of the wealthy. They barely make enough money to have a place to live, or food to put on their table. Children starve, end up in foster care, which is a failed system in itself, and end up homeless. Instead of focusing on other countries, maybe it would be more practical to notice the problems in our own. During the wars, people at home suffer from the extreme separation of classes. Through the nations struggles, our very own country is feeling the poverty take over. It seems quite unfair that some people can blow thousands of dollars on a champagne bottle and at the same time, a child in a bad neighborhood is starving. The separation of classes is nothing knew. On the left, there was a bulletin that had newspapers telling about the Black Vote Revolt in the Bahamas where Sir Lynden Pindling led the party to victory on islands that were 50 miles from Florida. On the right, there was another bulletin with the list of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) elected members, the areas in which they ran and the complete election results. In the center, there were photos in a glass showcase of Sir Lynden Pindling, Sir Clifford Darling and Sir Randal Fawkes. There was also a glass showcase of newspapers which told what happen the day after the election. In the corner to the left, there was a showcase of books which were written by Bahamian Authors about the history of the Bahamas and persons who had made contribution to the Bahamas.
