The Balkan War took place from 1912-1913 in the Balkan Peninsula in the southeastern part of Europe. Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia had gained independence from the Ottoman Empire in the 2oth century but their ethnic population was still under Ottoman rule. These nations formed the Balkan League. The League decided to attack the Ottoman Empire and the First Balkan War took place in October of 1912 and ended seven months later. When a nation’s hunger for power and control become too great, the nation may be pushed to do things that may have harsh consequences.
