The Lady With The Dog Chekhov

In Anton Chekhov’s story, “The Lady with the Dog,” a married man named Dmitri Gurov and a married woman, Anna Sergeyevna, met in a city. They hung out often which led to them having an affair because both of them were in an unhappy marriage and found that they make each other happy. Although, this did not happen all at once. After having several casual conversations and becoming acquaintances, he kissed her and told her, “Let us go to your room (par. 27).” This made Anna feel guilty and have a dirty conscience; she started to ask for forgiveness and express how she had been deceiving herself because she had been curious and “wanted something better (par. 36).” During the days apart after Anna had left back to her home, they could not stop thinking about each other. This was made clear after Dmitri went to go look for Anna in the theater. Later, Anna agreed to go visit Dmitri in Moscow and they talked about how they can fix their current situation.
