The Importance Of Texting And Driving
Some states have made it illegal to drive while using a hand held cell phone, I disagree with this law. Due to the fact that young adults are easily distracted, the increase in accidents, and safety of any other person in the car as well. To start off young adults are easily distracted easily. It takes a young person about 4 seconds to read a text message, in the time that they read a message. It only takes 1.2 of those seconds for a crash to happen. Plus when its dark out and other drivers stop to look at there phones, the screen lights up which can distract other drivers. Not only does it distract young adults the rate of accidents increased. Second of all, the rate of accidents increased. Think about it you honestly taking the time to use your phone, if you want to make a phone call or text. Most of the time people have smart phones which means it takes you more time to get to the contact you want to be in touch with. When you are looking down at your phone you cant focus on the road, which leads to accidents. I believe that if you really have to make a phone call pull over on the side, it only takes like 2 seconds for you to make a phone call. …show more content…
If you were in the car with someone who likes to text and drive, it's pretty scary. I mean think about the people that are in the car with you, i'm pretty sure if you had your mom or dad in the car you would not dare to mess with your cell phone. What if you had a young child in the back seat with you, think of the other persons life. In conclusion, I disagree with the law that allows people to use hand held devices while driving because of the risk of the passengers, how quick the rate of accidents can increase, and how young adults like myself get easily distracted.Think about it everytime you thnk about using your phone, would your mother approve of it? Would you want your son or daughter using their phones when they start to

I agree that driving while using a handheld cellphone is bad because it can lead to a car crash, the driver isn't focused on the road, and not paying attention to other drivers and not all hands are on the wheel. One reason why I believe that driving with a cellphone should be illegal because it can lead to a serious car crash in some cases. The driver may not be focused on the road and they hit a car dead on. Another reason why I agree with driving with a cellphone is illegal because the driver may not be focused on driving. They most likely be focused on talking to someone on the phone, Face time , Facebook, Snap chat , Twitter. Some people will forget that they are driving if they are really into there phone. The last…

Accidents happen everyday on the road. Some are from bad weather conditions, others are because the driver is under the influence of alcohol, and many are caused by distracted drivers on their cellular phone. If people were more aware of how many people are injured or killed by someone who was using their phone while driving , then they wouldn't use their own phone while driving. If making a law that says it is illegal to use a handheld phone and drive will make people stop becoming distracted while driving, then it should be put into effect. A solution for a driver who wants to use their phone while driving would be to use the hands free option on their phone, or to purchase a tool to hold the phone while driving.…

Over the years cellphones and driving have both seen many changes. Both of these things have had major changes most people look at all the changes as great, but if the two are put together the outcome is not so great. Studies show that car accidents involving cellphones are one of the leading causes of death of women under the age of thirty-five (Moore). More and more people are using their phones while driving; not knowing they are putting not only their own lives in danger but also the lives of other drivers. There are those few people who do not use their phones while behind the wheel, but they have probably witnessed someone else doing it. There have been many laws passed in different state making it illegal to use phones while behind the wheel. One of the big obvious reasons is that it is extremely dangerous (2C R.W) and nearly 500,00 people are injured annually. Over 6,00 are killed each year because of drivers talking, texting, and emailing behind the wheel. Once you are on the road, right when you pick up your phone, you are 23 times more likely to get in an accident than non-texting drivers (4A K.S + R.W). Not only do you put yourself at risk but you put others also. Nicole Meredith, 18, experienced the dangers of teexting while driving as well as John Breen, 28. Nicole and John both were texting and both totaled their cars due to this mistake. Nicole survived with a story to tell, but John left the world, torn and shattered. Margay Schee, 13, was also unlucky when her school bus was rear ended by an 18-wheeler who was found texting while driving. It could have been prevented if they had waited to open/recieve these text messages.(Edgins) (Breen) (Burgos) (Oprah)…

Even though a lot of places in the United States are completely illegal to use the cellphone while a person is driving, there is still a lot of states in US where this rule is not applied, and it has been very dangerous for the drivers. Most of young people between the ages of sixteen and seventeen specially, text while driving, making them pay more attention on their phones than the road, which is not a mature attitude. Most of young drivers do not know how bad a car accident could be until they get involved into one. If a person is using the cellphone while driving, it just shows that the person is giving more attention to a electronic device, than paying attention on the street while conducting a heavy and big vehicle on movement, eventually causing an accident most of the times.…

Ever been stuck at a light behind somebody who is not paying attention because of their cell phone? It's annoying right. Well that might not be a problem anymore. Many states have banned the use of hand-held devices while driving. Knowing about all the people that have been killed in accidents involving cell phones, I one-hundred percent agree with this law. Using your cell phone while driving can lead to lack of focus on the road, especially among young drivers who are not as experienced as their adult counterparts. Driving takes an extreme amount of concentration, due to the many things that could happen on the road. From cars slamming on brakes in front of you, to people cutting in and out of traffic, you need to have your undivided…

Teens today have been in many crashes or died because of the carelessness of themselves or others. The main reason for this is because they are not paying attention when driving and not being careful. Cell phones are major distractions when driving. A report from the University of Utah say when motorists talk on cell phones they drive like an elderly person because their reactions are slower. The quarterly journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society said that when they tested teens on a driving stimulator and talked on their cell phone, they are breaking slowly like an elderly person.…

Thus, you will see more drivers on the road who are using their phones or you might even have been in a car where the driver was using their phones irresponsibly while they were driving. It is because of this reason why the dangers of texting and driving should be more publicized and banned nationwide since a good number of people are still experiencing drivers out on the road with their phones out. At any given daylight moment across America, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or manipulating electronic devices while driving, a number that has held steady since 2010 (NOPUS). You know it is a serious issue when a large amount of drivers are engaged with their phones on the roads every single…

I do support in the fact that texting a driving should be considered illegal, mainly for the soul purpose that many people die because of the distractions on the road that your phone can cause. “In the past three years alone, 30 states have banned texting while driving, the only state that has not done it yet is Oklahoma.” (Delcour 2) You see on the news that there are many teenagers now a days that get into car accident why? BECAUSE THEY WERE TEXTING AND DRIVING! “Last year, despite assurance by S.C. lawmakers that a texting ban would be passed, obviously it died without coming up for a final vote.”(EDITORIAL 6) I know people who try to text and drive but we always remind them that there are other people in this care ad unless they want the guilt of their friends death due to their carelessness then that’s up to them. When I get behind the wheel of a car I turn my phone to silent and I don’t turn it back up until I that car is stopped and I get out of that car, I don’t sit there at a red light or a stop sign reading text messages or taking calls while I’m behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. It is unsafe to not only you but the people in your car, and the people outside of your car as well like other drivers, pedestrians, animals, etc. I think that if it were to become illegal then it should not only have one ticket for texting while driving but also another one for being stupid to put yourself and other in a dangerous risk of dying or getting seriously hurt. “Fifty-eight percent of those under 45 say texting while driving should be punished less severely than driving while intoxicated, while 65 percent of those over 45 say the severity of the punishment should be equal for both.” (CBS 6) I am still kind of a new driver myself but I do know how to stay safe on the road from anything that may distract me and end up causing a lot of damage.…

As if drunk driving wasn't dangerous enough, put anyone with a cell phone behind the wheel and it gets much worse. "Vehicle crashes are one of the top causes of death for just 15-20 year olds" (Thomas, 2009). "Emma Vieira, 19, of Colchester, Vermont, left a woman in a coma and killed a dog as a result of an accident back in August of 2011. Vieira was texting at the time of the accident. About 6,000 deaths are…

Day after day, everyone has seen a driver who texts and calls while driving. In fact, texting while driving has become an epidemic for people of all ages in the United States, and sadly, I am a part of this social issue. According to Ann McFeatters, a writer for The Scripps Howard News Serive, “The White House, learned that 6,000 people were killed last year because of distracted drivers.” This figures into a serious problem. Therefore, I do believe that no driver should be sending text messages or using phone while operating a vehicle because it distracts the driver and people die.…

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has tried to ban people from using their phones on the road. It improved pretty much better in some states. People are now used to have their phone with them anywhere they go; it’s not so easy to ban them all at once. However, it is a fact that if people stop using their phone while driving, they will focus more on the road and there is going to be less car…

First texting and driving is very hazardous and causes lots of damage to people and property. There are a lot people against texting and driving because it causes a great amount of car crashes each year, many of those being fatal. People just can’t resist, not responding, to someone if they feel the vibration of their phone, they just have to check. In 2007, 5917 people died, and 448,000 people were injured all because people made the decision to drive distracted. Too many innocent lives have been taken because someone made the decision to text and drive. Each state has different laws set in place for texting and driving. As of April of 2012 ten states have banned teenagers from texting driving and there are strict laws to enforce it (Hossansky). As hard as it is to take your eyes away from your phone while driving, it needs to happen; otherwise far too many people will lose their lives from this act.…
