Later your taken to an adult prison to get sexxually and physically harrasted and leave the jail with a urge to commit suicide. Kids who are getting punished by doing crime are being sentenced to adult facilities. Although teenagers who commit these crimes may deserve to be harshly punished, Juveniles who commit violent crimes should no longer undergo punishments as harsh as their adult counterparts because kids deserve a second chance to overcome their faulty selves which is unachievable in adult prisons.

Kids are undergoing punishments equivalent to adults which is unfair because adults have had their decision thought process in their brains fully developed. Most juveniles who serve time in adult prisons are eventually released will either be traumatized from being sexualy assaulted or experiencing hyper-violence. Juveniles will come out of the prison with urges to commit suicide in effect of the sexual violence they dealt with. Children don’t have the intellectual or moral capacity to understand the consequences of their actions; similarly, they lack the same capacity to be trial defendants. Juveniles dont have moral capacity to handle these situations.
If juveniles are continuously taken to adult facilities they will be beaten, sexually assaulted and suicidal rates will increase. In order to take a stance this problem must become aware and known. As people understand this conflict the government will have no choice to respond. All you have to do is get your friends, family, neighbors, anyone you know to become aware of this

Throughout the centuries, both the system and the concept of prison have undergone many radical changes that eventually led to the formation of the prison as we know it now. In the 16th and 17th centuries, prison tended to be a place where criminals were kept in it while awaiting their punishment. It was a place, where criminals were held, rather than a means of punishment. In fact, criminals, at that time, were publically punished, rather than imprisoned, in the most torturous ways such as whipping, and slaughtering. However, in the 18th century, people in charge decided to put an end to these cruel methods of punishing. They came up with new methods of punishing instead of using torture in punishing criminals. In fact, the incarceration with hard labor was the new method of punishing criminals. Thus, the prison itself became a tool of punishment.…

Typically, juveniles who display a propensity for committing crime will continue to do so, even as they get older. Their crimes may even become more serious in nature. Therefore, teens that commit heinous crimes should be punished for their obnoxious behavior. In “Juvenile Doesn’t Deserve Life Sentences” by Gail Garinger, he states that “a juvenile doesn’t deserve life in prison because most teens haven’t reached their full maturity”.…

Death penalties aren’t enforced mostly till they are older. Many people find this unfair and argue they are too young to be sent to live behind bars. I feel, as do many others, that our court system has become much too harsh when it comes to punishing the youth. There is a difference when being tough on crime and giving kids punishments that do not fit the crime. More and more of today’s youth are being sent to adult prisons where they cannot be protected. In a juvenile prison, kids are given second chances. There they learn to right their ways and are sent back out in society where hopefully they will become responsible adults. In adult prisons however, its survival of the fittest. There is no protection for those kids and no one to guide them on the right path. Statistics show that kids sentenced to adult prisons are more likely to end up back behind bars within five years of being released or committing suicide.…

This research paper will examine whether or not juveniles that commit violent crimes should be tried as an adult. Through research, I will establish an argument that children who commit the crimes of an adult should be punished as an adult. Data based on experience and observation detailing the number of juvenile offenders that are housed in adult prisons and jails, as well as the number of prisoners serving life sentences that were earned by committing violent crimes before the age of 15 will be included in this research paper. Finally, I suggest that children who commit crimes that are considered violent enough to even be considered for adult criminal court should in fact be tried in that very venue.…

Juveniles in the adult criminal system are 34% more likely to be rearrested for another crime than youth retained in the juvenile system (Key Facts: Youth in the Justice System) so there for the juveniles aren’t learning their lesson. More and more teens are doing time alongside adults in prison recently after 100s years of adolescents committing serious crimes. “The advocates also said juveniles in adult facilities are more likely to commit suicide or be physically and sexually abused.” (Trying juveniles as Adults in NJ). If the juveniles commit suicide then they’d end up losing their lives. There's no way to get it back. That's why the guards take away their shoelaces and belts, so they would have nothing to use as a weapon against themselves or anyone else. If the juveniles were sexually abused, they’d probably not want to interact with other humans for a while. If a girl or a boy were to be sexually abused they would definitely be scarred. Children in adult prisons are 5 times as likely to be sexually assaulted, twice as likely to be beaten by staff, 50 percent more likely to be attacked with a weapon and 8 times as likely to commit suicide as children in juvenile facilities. The juveniles would hold that fear of being abused again in the future and not want to even be near their own family. If the juveniles would have to be charged as adults then they should be put in a cell individually, away from others. Especially if the juvenile is the one that would be the one to sexually abuse…

Juveniles have been incarcerated in secure facilities since 1974. Juveniles are committing more heinous crimes and citizens have advocated for tougher penalties on crime. They want justice for the violence perpetrated on their families, businesses and communities. The Juvenile Justice system is charged with simultaneously protecting the public as well as reforming those juveniles who are convicted and sentenced to secure facilities. Barry C. Feld (1995) believes that there is a “desire to "get tough," fueled in part by frustration with the intractability of crime, that provides political impetus to transfer some young offenders to criminal courts for prosecution as adults and to strengthen the sanctioning powers of juvenile courts”(p.966).…

More and more juveniles are being incarcerated in adult prisons because of legislation dropping the age juveniles are allowed to be tried as an adult and expanding the list that are considered adult crimes. States vary as to how old and where a juvenile is incarcerated. They may have to wait until a certain age to be transferred to an adult facility or they have to go in ight after sentencing. Sometimes they are in the general population of adults and others they try to keep them in different areas, but it all depends on the state and what their legislature says. Adult prisons do not meet the needs of a developing juvenile therefore putting them at risk for abuse and attempting suicide. Studies have shown that the younger juveniles are…

Five times as many youth held in adult prisons reported attempted sexual attacks. Surveys in other countries have found similarly higher rape rates for young offenders in adult institutions. Studies have also reported higher assault rates for juveniles in adult facilities. Such research findings are currently being ignored by Congress as it considers legislation that would have the effect of increasing the number of juveniles housed in adult…

Juveniles should not be tried as adults because being an adult prison make their life so much harder and makes them face things that they shouldn't have to face. Children in an adult penitentiary are at a higher risk of suicide, rape and also assaults (Horowitz-Prisco). There are many reasons on why they are at a higher risk of anything happening to them than someone who has been there before. One of the major reasons that they are at a higher risk is because they are young and have more energy than someone else. They are raped because most men in jail like pretending that they are touching a women and when a young man comes in with characteristics of a women it throws up a red flag. They are attacked more than any other because they are easily…
