A problem that persists through every part of the world is a lack of compassion for the homeless. No matter how many charities are available for people to donate to, they are often careless and forgetful. This problem stems from laziness and a lack of motivation to be involved. This carelessness can account for the lack of resources or the lack of knowledge about resources for the homeless.…
As a Newark resident and not being too far from NYC (which I believe has the largest homeless population in the country), homelessness is an issue that I sadly witness every day. Most people on the streets have a condition or situation that is rejected by society—mental illness, a physical disability, drug or alcohol addiction, or like in the case of the article, simply a different sexual orientation. It is unfortunate that even when society has become more open and accepting towards the LGBTQ community and a larger number of teenagers feel confident revealing their sexual orientation instead of hiding or fighting it, many face the rejection of their family and their communities, bringing devastating consequences like suicide and homelessness.…
While on the streets, English teacher Pamela Lund wore ragged clothing, carried an old, beat-up sleeping bag, and wrapped $2 in a wool sock. Lund isn’t homeless, but for three weeks, she decided to live as a bag lady on the streets of Washington, D.C. to experience what living life as a homeless person is like.…
Poverty is viewed as the underbelly of society, a topic continuously being pushed to the shadows. Unspoken, yet commonly seen, the homeless are pressured from the streets by the desire to give the impression of cleanliness that society so desperately tries to obtain and preserve. The homeless seem to be a necessity of society, someone needs to fall for others to grow. The eradication of poverty is a continuous goal of many individuals, yet it unceasingly persists even in the most developed of countries. But is this a choice of the people in the society or the natural order of things?…
In every community, children find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. Such as joining gangs or being homeless. That’s why we as Americans need to step in and help those children have a better sense of stability and care in their lives. By donating your time and money we can make that happen. For every person who donates their service and money, just imagine how many lives we could change and think about the crime rate going down amongst youths.…
Dorothy Day once said, “What we would like to do is change the world-make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves as God intended for them to do”; as people living in the United States where homeless can be seen on nearly every street corner, we should take a stand against this issue and do something. Just think if, in 100 years, all American citizens have a desire to help aid in some way the issue of homelessness in America.…
The United States is not the same as it used to be in my perspective. I think the people are becoming more and more divided everyday. Everyday on the news I hear of a shooting of a black kid and the African American community goes crazy and protest against the police. I think this country is falling apart. It’s just a matter of time. Then there’s the people that come in illegally. They cross the border and commit crimes. I believe it’s the corrupt politicians fault.\s.…

What can be done to help the homeless situation in the U.S. (give argumentation/ persuasion)…
As a society, we need to find solutions to the ever-growing homeless situation in our country. The homeless rate in the United States is increasing; homeless shelters are rapidly filling up causing them to turn people away. By creating lower income housing while at the same time, creating a work program to help the homeless get back on their feet will help to decrease the rate. Although some of the homeless do not want help, they are happy with the lifestyle they live. I heard someone say once that the homeless that do not want any help are what he calls home free instead of homeless. Whether it is drugs or alcohol, these people do not normally go to the homeless shelters.…
Imagine yourself losing your family on a street filled with strangers and homeless people all around you. What would you do and how would you feel?…
Everyday many Americans get kicked out onto the street with no food, shelter or water. Without proper housing or the ability to care for themselves, many times this leads to mental illness. So the question is, how many homeless people develop a mental illness and what is the federal government going to do about this issue.…
According to Coalition for the Homeless, in September there were 61,931 homeless people in New York City just sleeping in the New York municipal shelter system, and not counting the people out on the streets. So when I had a chance to visit New York City, I saw a homeless person almost every corner I turned on the streets. Most of them were sitting in their dirty clothes, holding up a cardboard sign reading, “Need Help.” This shook me up immensely time. Just by looking into each set of eyes, surrounded by the grand city of New York, I now realize the importance of how hard work can affect my future.…
This turn tends to be very quiet and soft turn, which could show you that every country tries to build and improve their states without attaching others. However, when you have a Dictatorship country next to your country that you have to be working 24/7 to make sure your country is safe and securer because you shouldn’t trust them at all. Therefore, this turn is very important for our country because we have a strong army which is around 350 soldiers, so no one can mess with us. Also, we are doing 3 types of researchers which are social services, advanced scientific research and atomic theory.…
“Homeless” is socially constructed, because it is how society perceives it to be. The way society views homeless/homelessness is how it viewed by others. It is not individuals thinking on their own as to what is homeless/homelessness. It is society thinking for us, telling and showing us what exactly it is. It is a way in which society is feeding individual’s minds that homeless/homelessness is a negative aspect, whereas it may be a positive outcome. I am not trying to say homeless, or being homeless is a good things. However, homeless is not based on an individual thought, or what an individual may think what homeless/homelessness is. If society did not show or tell what homeless/homelessness is today, then we all, individually may have our…
