The Importance of Education
Charles Waller
Education is essential to living a healthy lifestyle, being successful and maintaining stability in today’s society. Most of young America does not understand the importance of education due to the fact that they have not lived life as an adult with responsibilities. As a child you don’t fully grasp the concept of how being educated helps to live a comfortable lifestyle. As a child transitions into adulthood, it becomes transparent how a higher education equals better living. Children are always encouraged to stay in school. Go as far as you can in education. Some may go on to college after high school because of feeling it’s the right move to make. The question is why is it the right move to make? Why is education so important? Having a great education is important in life because without knowledge you have nothing. Education opens the doors to options, but without it the options are limited. The job world is a great example of some of those options. When you’re working with just a high school diploma, a GED, or sometimes neither, the job world is tougher. Choices are limited; Looking for a job is harder. Pay may be standard, minimal wage or a few dollars more. The flip side to that is looking up and finding a great job with great pay, though not everyone will be that fortunate. Therefore it is important to further your education to receive a higher paying job. “This is important because typically, wages tend to increase as educational attainment increases.”(Arthur- Rene Cantu) Therefore a higher education is essential to earning a higher pay. The more learn, the more you earn. A high school diploma isn’t enough anymore. In the job world, a bachelor and master degrees speak volumes. A high school diploma gets a job but a college degree gets a career. (The 2001 median wage for someone with some high school is less than half of the median pay of someone with a master’s degree. The median pay for a bachelor’s degree is more than double that of someone without a high school diploma and almost $18’000 more than someone with a high school diploma further proof that income typically increases with education.” (Author - Renee Cantu) Education is also important to living a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle equals a healthy body Doctor Visits are needed to maintain a healthy human body. Due to the expenses of health care being so high, health insurance is needed. Some jobs that is available to those without a college education does not offer health insurance. “Experts say most of the uninsured population is composed of people who employers don’t offer benefits, but who make too much money to be covered by public-health programs and not enough to afford their own coverage.” ( Therefore a higher education is important in landing a better, higher paying job that offers benefits such as health insurance. If a higher education is not attained, changes are a better job will not be obtained. Education plays an important role in living a healthy lifestyle, because it will insure a good job with great benefits. Those without a higher education may not be able to afford health care. “A study  by researchers at the university of California, San Diego, published Tuesday by the policy journal Health Affairs; predicts that 56 million people in the U.S. more be uninsured in 2013.” The cost of health insurance is also expensive. A higher education is needed to get a well paying job to afford costly health coverage. “Over the past decade, the pace of total health care spending has grown faster than inflation and the growth in national income. “( Being able to afford health care coverage insures a healthy, better lifestyle which is another reason education is so important in America. Being financially stabled and maintaining that stability is another important...
