John F. Kennedy once said, “A child miseducated is a child lost.” This quote is very powerful to the point you might have to debate how important education is. At the beginning of the year it felt like I would have never been able to write any paper that was more than two pages long, it just seemed impossible, but for the research paper I actually had to stop myself from going off and writing a twelve page paper. I will admit and say that English is not my strong suit, in fact it is probably one of my more difficult classes. But just because it is difficult does not mean I don’t like it. I like looking for topics that interest me and still fit in with the guidelines, I like getting involved in the paper and researching the topic until it feels like my head is about to explode. I never saw any of that coming, I thought that I was going to have to go through English and just pray…
In my studies at Ashford University, I have found writing papers fun and gained an enormous amount of knowledge through the research involved. However, I do not just jump on google and use the first Wikipedia page that pops up. These types of searches can obtain inaccurate information that can be an absolute waste of time. This is why I am extremely grateful to have access to the abundance of valid research available in the Ashford University (AU) library.…
The move Amistad and the story “Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano” have many similarities. The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. In both the movie and the book slaves had to overcome horrific conditions to be freed, In the movie the main character Cinque was captured sold and thrown onto the Amistad and into the life of slavery but yet he was fought for and he finally made it home, In the story Olaudah finally was also on a slave ship and was sold into slavery.…
Writing three different types of papers helped me to improve my Rhetorical Knowledge. In my past I have written many research papers, however, I have little experience writing personal narratives or rhetorical analysis papers. This class gave me the opportunity to practice both forms of writing. I feel more confident writing a personal narrative or rhetorical analysis than I previously did. I also understand different rhetorical situations, which is critical in developing a strong paper.…
Looking at my most recent paper, the research paper, I think that I have grown at organization and careful flow of thoughts. I used to just begin writing my papers without any plan or organization, but throughout this course we learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement. The research paper I wrote was on the “The Medias Impact on Your Body Image”. I could have chosen an easier topic to research, considering that the opposing view was pretty controversial, but I felt I had acquired the skills that I needed to really learn and understand this complicated issue. Enrolling in this English class, I feel that have…
What many post-secondary institutions assume is that all of their students have an ability to write papers effectively and from experience, we do, so the new class that Strauss proposes would be a waste of time for many, not the “trickery” she…
The ethical issues I think I would have to be aware of would be making sure I first off, don’t commit “UPL”, by giving Ms. Barnum any legal advice concerning her pending divorce. Also I have to make sure that I’m doing everything by the Model Rules of Professional Conduct and Ethics. I want to make sure that my work product is being supervised by the lead attorney Mr. Conner. And all my conversations and meetings with Ms. Barnum would be in the strictest for confidence, due to the Rule of Confidentiality. Also I have to make sure that I document how many hours I work on anything regarding Ms. Barnum’s case, so that I don’t cheat her of the time I actually spent on her divorce case.…

Writing at a graduate level is a major part of a student’s coursework when entering into a Master’s program. Throughout a person’s college career, they have written many papers in their undergraduate studies, but writing papers at a graduate level differs from previous styles of writing. There are very distinct characteristics in graduate writing. Society tends to believe that attending to college is something that everyone should do in order to live a successful and prosperous life. After doing research about the benefits of college, read different perspectives and opinions of different authors my view about college has changed. A lot of kids think that in order to get accepted into college you need to have perfect test scores and an exceptional gpa but that’s not true. Angel B. Perez in the article, Want to Get Into College? Learn to Fail, asserts that college admission officers want to get to know the student applying outside of his/her academic history. That means that if you are eager to learn you can get into college and by attending to college you are going to expand your mind, gain more knowledge and be a successful person.…
