The Coast Guard Academy: Structure In Life
I am interested in attending the Coast Guard to become more structured in life. Structure in life is what precedes you to the best of your life. Having structure in my life is in important, as well as developing my personal being. The Coast Guard Academy is the opportunity I desire to follow for two reasons: 1) Structure and Life Development 2) Less militarized combat branch.
As my four years as a Cadet in the Coast Guard would be very relevant to my life in Hargrave, but more in depth. The goals I have established for myself, deals with first, obtaining excellent grade; second, graduating high school; last, becoming accepted into a university(ex. Coast Guard
Academy). I strive to uphold these goals by pushing my efforts to the maximum level

Furthermore, what initially interested me in the naval service was my family's involvement in the military. Ever since I was a child, I was inspired to become a military officer knowing my father was a non-commissioned officer in the Coast Guard and when my sister commissioned into the Navy as an officer becoming head of the physician and medical department on Naval bases. I was then driven to pursue a similar ambition to strive towards serving my country in the Navy as a lifelong career. My father works for the Air Force and growing up around planes; I generated interest for flight and the science behind it. I want to receive education from one of the top rated engineering institutions in the…

It would be an honor and a privilege to continue my service as a Surface Warfare Officer. I had the pleasure of being assigned to the USS Chung-Hoon during my senior Midshipman cruise. While on the Chung-Hoon, I was tasked with assuming the role of conning officer. I was held to the same expectation as my running mate; I was to have in-depth knowledge of the ship’s navigational capabilities, report for duty fully prepared to assume responsibilities, and, at all times, be diligent when working in unison with the different departments of the ship in order to assure safe navigation. Working with the officers and crew on the Chung-Hoon was the greatest lesson in leadership I experienced, and serves as the point in my life where I knew I was destined to be a warfighter. I know that as a Surface Warfare Officer,…

I believe the Coast Guard Academy will provide me with an excellent education, an opportunity to compete in collegiate athletics, and the ability to serve my country. The CGA’s excellent science program and low student-to-faculty ratio will enable me to excel as a mechanical engineering major. Studying at the CGA will not only give me classroom knowledge of mechanical engineering, it will also give me hands-on, real world experience and practice. Throughout my four years at the CGA, I will have many opportunities to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it to a variety of situations. During my time at the CGA, I will also be able to engage in humanitarian projects, spend my summers on the sea applying the skills learned during the school year, and participate in various clubs and athletic teams. While at CGA, I will not only expand my academic knowledge, but will also further develop my leadership…
