The Best Day of My Life
I would like to tell you about the best thing that has happened to me, the day I found out I was pregnant and having a boy! It was such a beautiful day outside, the sun was just starting to rise, the birds were chirping away and eating from the yellow bird feeder that hung from our giant oak tree in our back yard. I went to the doctor that day, because I had been having some problems. I was exhausted and nauseated all the time, and I just didn’t feel normal. And I never knew that day would change my whole life.
I arrived at the doctor’s office around 11:15am. The nurse called my name and I followed her down the hallway to room number12. I sat down, and the nurse told me the doctor would be in to see me shortly. The doctor walked in and I explained to him everything that was going on with me. He sat there very quietly and patiently with a strange look on his face as if he knew exactly what was going on. When I was done speaking, he looked at me and asked if there were any way I could be pregnant. I thought to myself arduously and I said, “ Well maybe, but surely not.” I explained to the doctor that I was on birth control, and I thought it was difficult to get pregnant. The doctor assured me that yes, anyone on birth control can become pregnant. The doctor asked me to wait in the room and told me he wanted to run some test, and that he would be back to see me shortly. So there I sat, in the room waiting and waiting. A nurse walked in and explained the process of urinating in a cup, as if I didn’t know how to. I went into the bathroom, and I can still smell the lavender and passion fruit berries smell mixed together and the green and yellow floral print on the walls. I urinated into the small plastic cup with a bright orange lid.. I can still see my name in big bold letters with the words pregnancy test right next to it. I proceeded back to my room and waited, for what felt like an eternity. The anticipation was killing me. The door opened and

One of the best experiences I have experienced was my adoption. This day gave me a feeling of being part of a whole family instead of being the stepchild, not that my mother treated me like I was a stepchild. Not that it changed my day to day life, however, it changed how I looked at a number of things. My lawer and parents allowed me to pick they day I was adopted. As a result, I was adopted on Michigan's adoption day, which always takes…

The harsh terrain in the area of modern Iran made it very difficult for humans to survive and find water sources. The arid climate meant more work for agriculture and agricultural surplus was very rare. Organizing the building of underground irrigation channels for agriculture required a strong central government. The connection between royal authority and prosperity can be seen in the ideology of the first Persian Empire. (p. 100, 102).…

The best day of my life is when we were deer hunting this year and I got a huge buck. It was the most gigantic buck I have ever seen. We were pushing a field in the middle of the day and we saw it. I was so delighted after I shot it and so was all of my family. It really wasn't about the buck though it did coach me a few lesson. I sat in that stand for four mornings and four nights and I wasn't seeing anything and I really was getting agitated but my dad said stick with it. My uncle said he saw the deer when he was harvesting and couldn't believe how enoumorus it actually was. So I did just what my father had told me.…

The most memorable time in my life was my daughter's cleft palate surgery. It was January 4th when my daughter and I had to leave El Paso, TX to take a trip to Austin, TX. It was a long drive for a little baby like her at the time she was only two years old. Early that morning my parents took us to the bus station. The bus was leaving at 6 a.m. in the morning to get to Austin, TX at midnight. My daughter and I felt it was the longest drive ever as the bus was very full and kept stopping. Finally, we arrived to Austin at midnight. I had to walk around for some time until I found a cab to take us to the hotel. I was scared and nervous. I was all alone with my daughter in a city we didn't know. We arrived to the hotel and finally felt safe and some peace. As soon as we walked in the room, I called my family and let them know we were good.…

On the evening of January 14, 2010, I was at a basketball game with my friends. Because my parents were divorced, I planned on my dad picking me up from the game and bringing me home to my moms. After trying for a few minutes to get ahold of my mom before leaving the school, my dad finally arrived. He told me that my mom was at the hospital and that she was in labor. Since we had planned ahead, I knew that he would bring…

Everything started around 4:30am, sharp pains in stomach woke me up out of my sleep. I wasn’t sure exactly what they were because it had happened before, so I tried to lay back down and get some rest. At around 5:30am, an hour after the first experience having abdominal pain I knew that I might be in labor. Having been six days past my due date I knew inside that it must be time to give birth to my daughter, so I got out of bed and went upstairs to tell my mom that it’s time. We had to wait until my contractions were about 10 minutes apart before we could leave for the hospital so I waited while lying in bed trying to breath, and find a happy place which is what I learned to do in my child birth class. A few hours had passed, and by this time the pain was so unbearable I knew we had to start heading to the hospital. Even trying to stand up to get all the bags and supplies I needed out the door and to the car was a challenge. I felt like I couldn’t even move. All I wanted to do was sit down and take deep breaths, basically go to my happy place so my mind wouldn’t think about the pain my body was feeling. We finally made our way to the hospital around 9:30am, arriving in the emergency department at 10:00am. The emergency department took me to the 14th floor of the hospital where the nurses had to evaluate if I truly was in labor; they also had to check with my doctor to see if he would like to admit me. After an hour of walking around trying to get dilated more, and waiting for the doctor’s okay on admitting me I was finally in the room where I would be meeting my daughter for the first time.…

Six months after I got married, I had the happiest day of my life. This was December 14, 2000, the day I gave birth to my son. It was a beautiful August day. The sun was extra bright, probly because I had been in a hospital room for the past three days, and there was a warm breeze that made the ride home great. When we pulled up in front of the house the street was lined with cars. I could hear music playing and the smell of BBQ. There were so many familiar faces. My aunts and uncles, cousins, friends. I could see a Welcome Home banner over the garage and I immediately began smiling. This was all for my baby! I was so shocked. As I stepped out of the car everyone began to run over. There were hugs and “congratulations” coming from every direction. This was the best day of my…

My mom and sister were not allowed to be in the room during the epidural procedure, so I had to be brave on my own. I sat upright, my legs dangling off the bed, as the nurse stood beside me holding my hands. I felt a small pinch and some pressure as the anesthesiologist inserted the needle near my spine. A few seconds after he took the needle out, he said he had to do it again because he didn’t get the right spot. So again I breathed out, and felt the pinch of the needle. My heart was racing, hoping he got it right this time. No luck -- he still didn’t get the right spot. By this time I…

The best day of my life was when I found out that I was not god. This might of course need some explanation on my part, but once you understand what I mean, you would get my drift. I grew up as a child with a lot of self-confidence. I was alone most of the time as I was living away from my parents with my grandfather. Despite being a small kid, I have been self-reliant in many things. I hardly went to others seeking for any kind of help. I tried to manage everything on my own. This was good in a way, but I also carried a lot of undue pressure, as I began to handle things on my own. In a way, I was the god of my life and I ran it the way I wanted.…
