The American Dream Immigrants

The American (Immigrant’s) Dream An immigrant is a person who has emigrated to live in a foreign country. It is one word that describes each and everyone one of us or at the bare minimum, an ancestor. This word's meaning, just like any other word, is all based on perspective. I, myself, have a personal and close relation with the immigrants that I know, my parents. Even though I may not have a story of emigrating personally, I will always have my views and I have my parent’s story. I am a child of immigrant parents. Being a first generation American helps me realize two views on this one word. I am proud to say my parents are immigrants. Just like them, others have come to America in hopes of creating a better future for themselves, their children, and for generations to come. Tell me, would one settle for what they have when they can chase their dreams? That is the whole point of the American Dream, (or what I like to call it, the immigrant’s dream) to create a better life in this land, the land that is viewed as almost the safe-haven of the world. My parents, as previously described, are immigrants. They came to this country because Mexico was not considered a suitable, safe location for them to settle in. They wanted a place
More than half of these events include people saying demeaning things about immigrants. This sickens me because none of them are placing themselves in these immigrants’ shoes which contain the struggles of leaving their old home in search of a new one in a foreign land. They learn about the American culture to fit in. Most of them all learn English so that is another hardship that they go through. All they want is a job and a home. They are literally willing to risk everything since they cannot go back to their old home. So in the end, these immigrants sacrifice it all and practically reset their life just for a chance of living a better or safer
