On the mainland China, the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) was defeated by Machu who later founded the Qing dynasty. A Ming loyalist general led the troop to oust the Dutch and established the government in exile in Taiwan in 1661. Taiwan was annexed by Qing Dynasty in 1683.
