Texting While Driving Should Be Banned Essay

Driving while using a hand held device is a major topic in todays world because many people do own hand held devices and are addicted to them. Teen and adult drivers don't know how to put their phones down for twenty minutes to drive to wherever their destination may be. Using a hand held device should be illegal, it is dangerous to the driver or other drivers on the road and it can cause accidents or unsafe driving. Hand held devices are unsafe when it comes to driving, teens are often stereotyped to be the only ones that use them while driving and social media has tried to put a stop to the use of them but none of these things have stopped people from not using them when driving a car. Once a cop catches them it is often too late and someone has lost their life. Phone companies have also tried to put a stop to this by advertising it on TV, social media, billboards, and many other places but it still doesn't stop people from pursuing this action. I do not think people will understand how dangerous it is till something happens to them or someone they love and at that point it will most likely be too late. One way that I do believe it could be stopped is having cars have some type of device that will not let drivers use their phone while the car is in drive. I think that this would put a stop to the majority of accidents that occur in teens and adults lives. I do believe that using a hand held device while operating a car should be illegal in every state and not just some. It takes peoples lives way too often and is something that could be stopped. Police officers have enough to deal with if drivers could put their phones down this is one less call that police officers would have to respond to. Using hand held devices while driving is unsafe, causes accidents and is something that could be stopped with simply putting your phone down while driving to your destination. Using a hand held device while driving
