CE.1.1 Introduction

CRONOLOGY : - 1 Jan 2003 to 1 Apr 2003.

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION : - V.V.P. Engineering College, Vajadi Virda, Kalavad road, Rajkot, Gujarat State, India.360 005

PROJECT: TESTING WINDING AND ASSEMBLING OF THREE PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR.

ORGANIZATION: V.V.P. ENGINERING COLLEGE,Rajkot,Gujarat stae.

TITLE OF POSITION OCCUPIED: Engineering Student.

For completing the bachelor of an electrical engineering I had to complete the project in the last semester at V.V.P. Engineering College which is under the Saurashtra University. The history of the motor was, the induction motor was basically developed from the invention of the electromagnets. As an electrical engineer the induction motor is one, which attracts me to know more about the induction motor construction. So I decided to take the project testing winding and assembling of a 3-phase induction motor.

CE.1.2 BACK GROUND

CE.1.2.1

I had undertaken the project of testing winding and assembling of 3-phase Induction Motor. It was the group project. I had taken the project under the guidance of M.R. N.D. Karelia the lecturer of my college. He gave me the specification of the induction motor and that was 3 phase, 4 hp, 440volt, 1440rpm which I had to design and then I had to get the testing winding and the assembling of the induction motor.
CE1.2.2

The induction motor is the most important device in the electrical engineering. In all kind of manufacturing industries the induction motors are used according to the requirements. So I decided to make the project on testing winding and assembling of an induction motor. This was a good chance to improve the theoretical knowledge of induction motor by making the working model of an induction motor.

On the 89 Liberty Street in Manhattan they had set up a laboratory for Tesla were he could make and design new devices for the company. One of his inventions that made his laboratory was a induction motor that ran on a alternating current and used polyphase current to make a rotating magnetic field to turn the motor. In 1888, Brown…

Most electric motors work by electromagnetism, but motors based on electrostatic forces also exist. The overarching concept is that a force is generated when a current-carrying element is subjected to a magnetic field. In a cylindrical motor, the rotor rotates because a torque is developed when this force is applied at a given distance from the axis of the rotor.…

The goal of this experiment is to build a simple electric motor and observe how it works. I will attempt to make it spin evenly by attaching it to a battery via jumper cables. The independent variable is the battery charge (1.5 V) and the dependent variable is how fast the motor spins. The lab doesn’t have multiple experiments for us to test this but I would hypothesize that the two variables would have a positive correlation: higher voltage, faster spin.…

Squirrel-Cage Induction Machines. The rotor windings of a three-phase induction machine can take two forms. The simplest, least expensive, and most rugged is known as a squirrel-cage rotor. It consists simply of bars of aluminum with shorting rings at the ends. The squirrel cage is embedded in the laminated iron rotor by casting molten aluminum into slots cut into the rotor. In the squirrel-cage induction machine, there are no external electrical connections to the rotor. The other type of rotor construction is known as a wound rotor. Torque is produced in an induction motor assuming purely resistive impedances for the rotor conductors. However, the impedances of the conductors are not purely resistive. Because the conductors are embedded in iron, there is significant series inductance associated with each conductor.…

CE 3.2.1 The project was an essential criterion in order to satisfy the requirements for my engineering degree and hence was very important. The main aim of the project was to design and fabricate a scooter which can be folded and can be extended when in use and can easily be carried around. This idea was one of the favourite topics of Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at my college and therefore when he asked me to undertake the project as part of the requirements of my engineering degree I was very excited and I too had a very keen interest in this field.…

    1. One of the most popular induction motor models derived from this equivalent circuit is Krause’s model detailed in [13]. According to his model, the modeling equations in flux linkage form are as follows: I. INTRODUCTION Usually, when an electrical machine is simulated in circuit simulators like PSpice, its steady state model is used, but for electrical drive studies, the transient behavior is also important. One advantage of Simulink over circuit simulators is the ease in modeling the transients of electrical machines and drives and to include drive controls in the simulation.…
