6. Describe the signals modems must handle.
Both analog and digital signals. It is capable of converting digital computer signals to analog transmission signals and vise versa.
7. Explain the difference between serial and parallel transmission.
Serial Transmission - Sends one bit at a time.
Parallel Transmission - Sends several bits at a time.
8. Give one advantage and one disadvantage for parallel transmission.
Advantage - Much faster then a serial transmission.
Disadvantage - Costs are more expensive.
9. Synchronous and asynchronous transmission is based on timing. Explain. Synchronous - A single clock must control the sender and reciever of information in order that they send and recieve data at specified times. Rarely used with modems because synchronizing clocks between two modems is very difficult. Asynchronous - Sends information when available, rather than only when signalled by the recieving modem.

Half duplex is the mid-ground between duplex and simplex, where communication can occur either way but not at the same time. A’walkie talkie’ is an example of a half-duplex device where only one person can talk at a time, which calls for specific signatures such as ’over’ to signal a message has been transmitted.…

    1. Genesis - For this book, I believe that Kingsolver chose to name it ‘Genesis’ because it foreshadows what is going to happen in this section of the novel. In Genesis, this is where God creates this new world. Essentially, this is what the Price family is doing on their expedition in Africa. They’re doing this by bringing all these modern things, and opening their eyes to thing that they’ve never noticed before, for example, when Mr. Price explained how nudity was a bad thing; “But Father skipped over all that and went straight to the dire consequences: ‘The emissaries of the Lord smote the sinners, who had come heedless to the sight of God, heedless in their nakedness.’” (37). Also, in Genesis, God warns Adam and Eve to not eat from the tree, however they ignore his word and do so anyways, which ended in severely bad consequences. The same thing happens to Reverend Price, for when Mama Tataba warned him that the Poisonwood Tree would “bite,” he ignored it, and the next day his arms and hands were covered in a painful rash, and his eye was swollen shut as well. “‘That one, brother, he bite,’ she said, pointing her knuckly hand at a small tree he was wresting from his garden plot. … My father woke up the next morning with a horrible rash on his hands and arms… Even his good right eye was swollen shut,…” (39-40).…

In Everything by Murs, he constantly makes references and alludes to the Bible. He does this by stating things that most people know about the story of Jesus Christ and the Bible’s basic teachings. “I take everything, Your hopes and your dreams and your hate and your lies, Oooh oooh oooh, in this life, I'll join everyone, From the old and the wise to the young, stay fly, When I die,” sings Murs. I believe that when he says this, he is talking about how God sent down his own son Jesus and how he died for our sins by sacrificing himself on the cross. Another example of him making an allusion to the Bible and or Torah is when he says,”God is love, Then hatin' is Satan.” He is saying that God is love, or good, and hatin’ is Satin, or Satin is bad; But as far as poetic devices go, he does not only use allusion, he also uses a lot of colloquialism such as, “sittin'…waitin'…smilin'.” This could have been caused by multiple things considering he grew up in the streets of San Fransisco and did not get much of a formal education other than rarely being home schooled. All in all Murs in not only a rapper when it comes to his music, he is a poet, and unlike most, his songs have meaning and do not just talk about getting money and doing drugs like most modern rappers who make the genre of rap frowned upon by so…

Belonging is significant to everyone because it makes us who we are and it gives a certain connection towards places and people. In the two poems ‘Migrant Hostel’ and ‘St Patrick’s College’ by Peter Skrzynecki not belonging is explored which leads to the individual not expanding or deepening their understanding of themselves and the world. In the short film ‘Missing Her’ by Michael Weisler, the individual starts with themselves not belonging and by the end, they begin to find a sense of belonging which develops their understanding of themselves and their world.…

Data signal is a mode of physical data transmission usually in binary code in signals or pulses from one source point to one or more destination point. Data is transformed into electromagnetic signals prior to transmission across a network. Data and video signal are typically encoded utilizing a digital methodology where voice is typically encoded utilizing an analog format. In analog technology, sound is recorded in its original form. Therefore, for instance, if making a recording of the sound, the audio is taken straight from the microphone and stored onto the storage media. The wave from the microphone is an analog wave, and therefore the wave on the tape is analog as well. That wave on the tape can be read, amplified and put through a sound system to produce the original sound. In digital technology, the video or data is turned into numbers that are stored on a digital device such as a computer. The more samples that are taken the more closely the digital data reflect the original data or video signal.…
