Suspense Short Story
Do you like suspense stories? If so, “Sorry Wrong Number” by Lucille Fletcher and “Sorry Right Number” by Stephen King are two very good suspense stories. The plot of both of the stories are centered around phone calls. Both stories center around a mysterious phone call. In “Sorry Wrong Number”, the phone call is about someone’s murder. And in “Sorry Right Number,” the phone call is about a woman crying, she says “ Take… please take… t-t- take him to the hospital. He is going to have a heart attack.” She says that after Bill says “ Who are you calling? Who do you want to call? Who would you call, if it wasn’t to late? ”
In “Sorry Wrong Number” the main character (Mrs.Stevenson) is a neurotic invalid. She wants to go outside but she can’t . She wants to go

In “Sorry Wrong Number,” the woman is a neurotic invalid. “ But I can’t be alone - tonight. I can’t. If I’m alone one one second, I’ll go mad. ” shows that she is neurotic. But in “Sorry Right Number,” the woman is a mother. In both “Sorry Wrong Number” and “Sorry Right Number” there is an operator.
In both of the stories someone dies. In “Sorry Wrong Number,” the person who died was a woman, and she was murdered.“ Make it quick. As little blood as possible. Our client does not wish to make her suffer long.” describes the murder. In “Sorry Right Number,” the person who died was a man, and he died by natural causes.
In “Sorry Wrong Number” the setting is in New York however in “Sorry Right Number” the setting is in Maine. “Sorry Wrong Number” is meant to be a radio play. “Sorry Right Number” is meant to be seen on the TV.
I enjoyed “Sorry Right Number” better than “Sorry Wrong Number.” I enjoyed “Sorry Right Number” more because it was more of a suspense story than “Sorry Wrong Number.” And because I liked how the story was easy to follow. I also liked how Stephen King put natural causes into the play. And how the man died instead of a woman

The story begins by informing us of Mrs. Mallard’s heart condition which leads us to believe that the heart condition will affect the story. Many times in the story we see that Mrs. Mallard does not handle situations in the way most woman did in that time. She doesn’t seem to know how to really feel about the tragic situation of her husbands death. Mrs. Mallard goes through so many changes in such a short period of time that some readers would believe it is the amount of drastic changes that caused her to pass of a heart disease…

    Sorry for Disturbing You

The story revolves around the protagonist Ian Harter and starts in medias res with Ian opening the door to his house finding an old and drunk man on his doorstep. Ian reluctantly lets the stranger, Michael, enter his home where he is alone with his daughter, Corinne, whilst making him tea and offers to help him call a cab. Ian finds out that Michael was associated with the former owner’s of Ian’s house, and he also finds out about how Michael was rejected by his own family. In the end Ian ends up driving Michael home. Michael apologizes, saying “sorry to disrupt your evening”, signifying the title of the story, and Ian returns home to his wife and daughter. The composition of “Sorry for Disturbing You” is mainly chronological. However, there is a breach of the chronologically time line as Ian reflects over his meeting with Michael in the beginning of the story. The story spans over a couple of hours, from the moment Ian opens the door to when he returns home to his wife and daughter. The story is told by a third person limited narrator, as we only get an insight view on Ian’s thoughts. This means that the portrait of Michael is based on Ian’s perception of him and how he appears in the dialogue between them. Ian’s wife, Karen, should have been at home, but “they had things to sort out”, which means that they are separated. They are having marital problems, and it is clear that Ian is unhappy…

More often, it is an angry demand, "Who's this?!" They are affronted by my answering the phone instead of the party they wanted.…
