1 2 Introduction

This report focuses on the suplly chain management of “Sanofi-Aventis” in Bangladesh, a leading global pharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and distributes therapeutic solutions to improve the lives of everyone. Present in more than 100 countries, with around 11,000 scientists there are around 100,000 employees working to improve health and wellbeing. The global headquarter is in Paris, France.

The broader objective of this report is to provide a brief overview of the supply chain management of Sanofi-Aventis that is helping the company to sustain its competitive advantage.

5 1.3 Scope

The scope of this report is limited to the pharmaceutical in Bangldesh. Since Sanofi-Aventis is one the leading company in this area in Bangladesh, the scope will be extended to the supply chain management of the company as part of a global organization since the main competition comes from this segment.

6 1.4 Methodology

The primary data for this report was collected from Sanofi-Aventis personnel, retailers of Sanofi-Aventis and its competitors, current and potential customers. Secondary data was both provided by Sanofi-Aventis and collected from internet and other sources.

7 1.5 Limitation

• Competition in the pharmaceutical market was not observed at a major scale. • The prospective export opportunities of medicines was not looked into • A huge base of customer residing in other parts of the country than Dhaka was not considered due to geographical distance • Unavailability of Direct sales figure
