Summary: The Psychodynamic Therapy
As mentioned Carter and Seifert, (2013) argues that the psychodynamic therapy is based on the core principle which argues that the unconscious mind suffers from painful memories which can inflict negative consequences on our behaviour. It is out of this concept the therapist operate from, it emphasises on building a trustworthy relationship with their client, this remotes the client to feel comfortable to speak freely and explore hidden internal conflicts present in their unconscious mind. The aim is for the client to understand the reason for their behaviour, the psychodynamic therapy operates under three major techniques to create a form of self-awareness which follows below (Carter and Seifert, 2013).

    Psychodynamic therapy is the idea that anxiety is seen as a symptom of an underling conflict. Also psychodynamic therapy seeks to bring unresolved past conflicts and unacceptable impulses from the unconscious into the conscious, where patients may deal with the problems more effectively. (Feldman,2010,pg.430) Psychodynamic therapy is based on the Freud’s psychodynamic approach to personality, which holds that the persons employ defense mechanisms. The most common defense mechanisms are repression, this would push threating impulses and conflicts back into the unconscious. A neurotic system is what Freud calls for a lot of anxiety that produces the unusual behavior, since it is impossible to bury conflict and impulses completely. Fraud wanted it to be possible to get rid of those unwanted conflicts and impulses by letting them out of the unconscious part of the brain and into the conscious part of the brain. Fraud wanted and assumed that this technique would help lesson anxiety so that these individuals would have a better and more effective life. Psychodynamic therapist has to face a challenge to help guide patients through their past experiences and back into their first memories.     In this chapter we are going to learn about therapy, treating psychological disorders, evaluating psychotherapies, the biomedical therapies, and preventing psychological disorders. You have three ways on how to treat disorders. They are psychotherapy, biomedical therapy, and eclectic approach. Psychotherapy is treatment involving psychological techniques consisting of interactions between some seeking to overcome difficulties and a trained therapist. Biomedical therapy is prescribed medicine that acts differently on every person's physiology. Lastly eclectic approach is an approach on the client's problems which uses various forms of therapy. Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis was the first of the therapies to be formed. The techniques that we have are resistance, interpretation, and transferring. Interpretation is noting supposed dream meaning's and other significant behaviors and events in order to promote insight. We have psychodynamic therapies which is a tradition that views on individuals when they respond to unconscious forces and childhood experiences. There are three psychotherapy skeptics which are people often need therapy when they are in crisis, clients need to believe that doing therapy will eventually help them with their problems, and clients need to speak kindly to their therapist and to respect what they have to say. Many studies are digested by what they call meta-analysis. Various therapies which have three benefits. These benefits are hope for demoralized people, a new perspective of the way we look at things, and a trusting, caring, empathetic relationship. The emotion between the client and his/her therapist is called therapeutic alliance which is a key concept to being a therapist.
