Summary Of Brief Principles Of Macroeconomics
I. Introduction The pursuit of the American dream cannot be achieved in this country. It has been that way in the viewpoint of this essayist, since the beginning. Income distribution should be fair in all fields. There are countless inequalities in this country. Inequalities like racism, discrimination against sexually orientation, and sex discrimination. Women have been fighting for equal rights and for equal pay for over one hundred and fifty years. Even though, Americans have come a long way in this aspect; it is not even close to the strides, America needs to reach. Being a feminist, I believe there cannot be a fair distribution of income without equal pay for all citizens.
II. Main Point First, one of the principles of economics is people face trade-offs ( Mankiw 1-1a). Society must have a proportionate exchange in the way economic conditions are ran. Economically, a society must run efficiently, but most importantly, it must run equally ( Mankiw1-1a). One could even prepare a powerful case for its a man's world. Even though, barriers have been lifted in the military and educationally. More women are attending college and receiving more degree's then men and adjustments are not being created. Women still do not receive the same treatment or compensation. The Institute for Women's Policy Research states that " in 2015, female full-time workers made only 80 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender gap of 20 percent" (Pay Equality &Discrimination).     Today, women have just as many rights as anyone else does and hold prominent positions in companies, whereas this would be unheard of in the Progressive Era. Women enjoy the simple freedoms of being allowed to strive for any job of their choosing, have free speech, and do not have to rely on a man to support them. While women do have rights that equal men, there is still a blaring issue in today’s times: the wage gap.     Women have experienced a historic situation of inequality in the social as well as professional aspects. Women are normally the ones that would take care of the children, do the household chores, and in rural areas; they would work in the field with the rest of the family. Just like how the Breaking Barriers article states, “from an early age, girls are dressed in pink boys in blue.     According to James Henslin, gender is the primary division between people (p. 294). Sociologists classify females as the minority group even though there is more women than men in the world. Women are sometimes treated differently than men. Some believe that women are delicate and can’t do the job of men. Back in the days, women were treated badly. They were only allowed to stay home and take care of their children. Until 1920, women had the rights to do what men do. They were able to work and vote. Gender discrimination is in everyday life.
