Heart of Darkness

Today I want would like to to present you a special book: heart of Darkness. It was written by Joseph Conrad in 1902.
The story centres on Charles Marlow, who narates most of the book. He is an Englishman who takes a foreign assignment from a Belgian trading company as a ferry-boat captain in Africa The narrator was Joseph Conrad, to whom I want to say something: But first, I would like to say a few Words about the Author.

Biography

Joseph Conrad, actually Jòzef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski, was born at the 3rd of December 1857, in the Russian dominated Ukraine. His parents, both polish patriots, were opportunists of the Russians, so they were exiled to the far-northern province of Vologda , taking the fourth-years old son Jòszef with them. When Joseph was eleven, his parents died, maybe as a result of hardship. The uncle, Thaddeus Bobrowski, became his guardian and mentor. With sixteen he left Poland and went to France, so he could realize his dream of going to sea. the next four years he spent his time with sailing to and from West-Indies. Allegedly he was involved in gunrunning and in gamble.

he escaped death very court, when he attempted suicide by shooting himself in the chest. In 1878, with 21, he entered the British Merchant Navy.
So he rested his next sixteen years rising to the position of Master Mariner. He travelled to Singapore, Australia, the Belgian Congo, which formed the stuff for "Heart of Darkness", to Bombay and the East Indies. In the year 1886 he became naturalized and 1894 he settled to England to devote himself to his writing. His first book was published in 1895, known as "Almayer's Folly". At the same year he married Jessie George.

In his special life he wrote nineteen novels, lots of short stories and some memoirs, from 1895 to 1924. Heart of Darkness was written at 1899.
Joseph Conrad died at the third of August 1924.

Plot Summary

Heart of Darkness is one of the famous work from Joseph conrad and is based on a real experience from his trip to Congo. At first the novella appeared in three-part series in Blackwood Magazine in 1899. Just in 1904 the three stories where published as a complete Novella.

The story starts with a group of man on a ship at the Thames, waiting for the wind, showing a beautiful sunset. The persons there were a Lawyer, an Accountant, a Company Director and Marlow, who is one of the two characters with a real name in the book!one of two persons with a name. At first, Marlow begun begins to speak about England and the cruel past of this hand. Land?? After having told the story, the narrator noticed that Marlow behaves unusual for a typical sailor. Than Then Marlow started to tell a story of his own life, how he became a fresh water sailor.

When he was a child, he loved to study maps and he dreamed about travelling. Later when he was became older elder, he went, with the help of his aunt, who had contact to the Administration Department, to this seafaring and exploration company. Marlow should replace a captain, who was killed before, from natives. Before he could travel, he had to be checked by a doctor, who asked him, if he had any case of insanity or something else in his family, but he couldn’t tell didn't mind. The next day he broke up to a one-month journey, to a company-station of in?? Africa. Once there He could see the coast and the driving on the coasts?? He also could see the consequences of colonization.

When he arrives got there, he got to know that lots of company members committed suicide and some of the persons looked at him with vacant expressions. But than then he meet met a well dressed man, who looked very respectable and elegant, who actually was is the chief accountant.(you should say more about the Accountant here) Around the station, he saw lots of black workers, who worked at in very bad conditions and who died without getting any attention and or medical care medicine health.
