Submarine Rats: A Case Study
NEW RATINGS FOR ACTIVE DUTY SAILORS. The Navy announced Wednesday the establishment of four new ratings for active duty Sailors, yeoman submarine (YNS), logistics specialist submarine (LSS), culinary specialist submarine (CSS) and fire controlman Aegis (FCA). This realignment was made to improve management of ship manning and personnel inventory for both the Surface and Submarine ratings. The new ratings are applicable for active duty Sailors only and will be effective September 2, 2017, for E-6 active duty, October 17, 2017, for E-7 through E-9, and November 28, 2017, for E-1 through E-5. 2. UNIFORMS CHANGES – NAVADMIN 015/17. NAVADMIN 015/17 announced several uniform policy changes. Changes include specifics for the occasion for wear of Navy Security Force (NSF) identification badges/patches, revised implementation schedule for the Navy fitness suit, policy clarification for combination covers, female Service Dress Blue (SDB) covers and black slacks, safety boot wear, coyote brown command ball cap manner of wear requirements, and Cold Weather Parka insignia.
Below are some of the key uniform policy updates: Navy Fitness Suit. The revised target date for issue of the fitness suit is now April 1, with fleet availability for personal purchase at Navy Uniform and call centers to follow later. Dress Covers. The new deadline for mandatory wear of the Alternate and Unisex Combination Covers for female officers and Chief Petty Officers is extended from Oct. 31, 2016, to Oct. 31, 2018. The enlisted White Hat remains mandatory for wear with jumper style uniforms
