People drink soda because it’s tasty, convenient, and cheap but what they don’t know is that for every soda they consumed they increases the risk towards obesity by 1.6 times. Consumption of soda is a big contribution to obesity because the sugar it contains interacts with people’s genes resulting to gain weight that also associates with other serious health problems. According to Jules Hirsch of Rockefeller University in New York, and I quote “Having many of these genes does not guarantee people will become obese, but if they drink a lot of sugary beverages, 'they fulfill that fate,’”. Like my dad and my grandfather, they weren’t as fat as they are today because they didn’t drink much sodas when they were younger but because of over consumption of soda they became more obese over time.
