Death the Motivator of Life Steve Jobs was the CEO of the Apple computer and of Pixar animation studios. When Jobs was offered to give a speech for graduates of Stanford University in 2005. During this speech he stated something very important. Steve Jobs argued that death is the best motivator and I completely agree because if life was eternal we would not strive for greatness. There are also several other people who agree with what Jobs claims of the motivation of life such as Roger Ebert. Roger Ebert is another famous man who criticized movies and he did not let a deadly cancer stop him from doing what he enjoyed most. When Steve was seventeen years old he came across this quote: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right” (70). This inspired him because living your life everyday until it is your last it will make you feel that you have done everything that you supposed to do to
Ebert said, “I know it is coming, and I do not fear it, because I believe there is nothing on the other side of death to fear” (54). Ebert did what made him happy all the time but once he knew he was dieing that motivated him even more to live his life. Ebert says you know that death is coming so instead of fearing it and rushing to make your life worth living you should just embrace death and make everyday meaningful. When you die you will actually be at peace with yourself. Life can not keep on going without death. I agree that death is the best invention of life, it clears out the old to make room for the new (Steve Jobs 71). We must first live a good life, after living a good life we are able to enjoy death because we have done everything we could to make our lives better. Once again, death is the motivator of life and we should try to make our lives worth living before we are gone and it is too late to do something about
