Personal Narrative: My Goals In The MLB
As a kid, I always wanted to play professional baseball and live up to my dream to play in the MLB. I had high expectations for myself, and I was really determined to achieve my goal and live a successful life. I was convinced for a long time that playing baseball was the right choice for me, but that has changed over some time. As time has passed, I now have a different mindset; to work in the field of criminal justice. Success is the accomplishment of one’s goals, and I now have a new goal that I wish to accomplishment later on in my life. I hope to work in this field by first enlisting in the military, then becoming a police officer, and finally work my way up to a higher position. If I can achieve these goals during my life time, then I …show more content…
The training and skills I will receive from the military will help me when I am in the police academy attempting to join the Providence Police Force. After I become a police officer and spend a few years working as a police officer, I hope to make my way up the ranks and maybe become a state trooper, from there maybe on to the FBI. I am very determined to achieve my goal, which will make me a successful man at the end of the …show more content…
Although there can be setbacks in achieving goals, success will find its way. At first Steve Jobs’s and his colleagues were not getting the support they needed from other people which happen to be their setback, but they continued their plans on building the first Apple computer. Despite the lack of support, they still managed to achieve their goal which led to a more successful lifestyle. Could you imagine how different the world would be today if Steve Jobs never accomplished his goals and was never the successful man he turned out to be? Success is something that one can not give up on, even if the situation is tough. Steve Jobs is considered one of my biggest role models because the fact that he never gave up and turned out to be very successful is something that is very powerful to me. If later on in my life I am going through a tough period of time, I just have to remind myself to not give up because if I give up, I won’t be successful but if I persevere and achieve my goals, then I know I will be

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

My dad has been a baseball fan for as long as I can remember. When 1:20 rolls around on Sunday afternoons, the television is declared my dad's for the mandatory Cubs game. Granted we weren’t obligated to watch the game, however, my older brother and I occasionally stuck around to watch. Overtime, this television snatching turned into an annoyance, most games are over three hours long, which greatly cut into my precious TV time on the weekends. I grew to hate the game because I found it long, boring, and filled with little action. Also, the only games my family watched were Cubs games and the Cubs have sucked since 1908. But like every good relationship it takes time for a bond to…

Hi , I’m Lilli Burton . I am in sixth grade, and play baseball with the boys. A barrier i have faced is trying to play baseball because I am a girl. Whenever I try - out , they say “ She would be great at softball.” I face the barrier in Summer and Fall when it is time for baseball. A lot of coaches are sceptical about putting me on their team, but I don’t let that stop me from trying and trying again.Until someone accepts me for who i am. To overcome this barrier , I used integrity by sticking up for my beliefs and not always caring about what people think of me . I also used determination by never giving up and try my best to get better and better everyday. My barriers are similar to Jackie Robinson’s because we both wanted to do something…

An experience that has helped to shape my life was an incident I had with a pro-baseball player during the 2012 and 2013 baseball seasons. According to my viewpoint, the conflict started after we were assigned to our respective leagues for that season. I started observing that “the player” (name that I would use to identity and protect the person’s identity) did not want to follow the strength and conditioning program as the rest of his teammates. ‘The player’s” behavior had several implications: one, “the player” could get injured since he was doing what he considered was best. Two, other players thought I had favoritism with "the player" and tried to do the same. And three, I could had lost my job if any team player got injured by not abiding to the program stipulated.…

Soccer is a very competitive sport. I didn’t play for too long, but i enjoyed it while i played. I was very aggressive and active. Soccer is a sport that you have to use both of those skills. It was a hard game but i liked it at the time. As i grew up, i became fascinated in baseball. I never got to play but i always loved to watch games on tv. I also love to go to Pirates games. Andrew Mccutchen has always been my favorite player. I even have an autographed picture of him. I love to watch the movie 42 about Jackie Robinson. It is interesting to learn about his career in baseball. He stood up to racism and became a very talented and famous baseball player. I look up to him in many ways. The part of my life I am about to recount was during the summer of 2014 when I was the starting pitcher and third hitter for the Drexel Hill Little League tournament team. Now, baseball is america’s pastime and in my words is the greatest sport on god's green earth. A little background on the sport is it’s a game of nines. Nine starting players on each team try to score as many runs in nine inning by hitting a nine inch baseball coming in at an average speed of ninety miles per hour. This leaves the batter with about .16 Seconds to react to the pitch and hit it with all their power with a bat about 36 inches long and 2.75 Inches in diameter. I was first introduced to the sport when I was only seven years old and my father, who is also a huge…

How bad do you want it? Work hard, and play hard has been drilled into the head of athletes since the beginning of sports. Every time I walk onto the court one question sits in my mind. “Will they remember my name?” Every athlete wants to be remembered for how well they play and how hard they play. I go to Basketball practice every day and I work my butt off. I want the coaches to see the player I am. But should that be the goal of an athlete? Do you only look after yourself, and try making yourself look great and leave your teammates behind? How should a real athlete act and play?…

As a child everyone always asks, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I used to hate the question just because I never had an answer. Growing up in middle school I would watch a lot of Criminal Minds and Crime Scene Investigation shows. I was not the typical child watching Disney movies; I liked all the action TV shows. All of the Criminal Justice shows helped me decide what I want to do with my life; I want to work in the Criminal Justice field. I have a few family members that are military; they inspire me to work in something that would make a difference in our country. I know have a couple of friends that are police officers, learning about their everyday life experience and hearing their stories are a one of a kind experience that…
