STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I have always felt a strong need to reduce human suffering and help people who are sick and this has been the influential force in choosing my career. The idea of becoming a medical professional since my childhood made me much interested in life sciences. Belonging to a country where the ordinary man does not have access to basic medical facilities, it was but natural for me to dream of a career which would enable me to improve the health conditions of the society.

I encountered many people with lack of knowledge about the medical issues and inability to properly utilize the available medical resources due to lack of education about health care. Coming from a family that has absolute faith in the power of trying,I decided to try and change these deplorable conditions which led me to the field of medicine.

Owing to my good academic record at school and college, I got admission into a college known for its focus on learning. I completed my graduation (BDS) in August 2011 from NTR University of health sciences which is an esteemed university all over India.

I have always balanced my education with extracurricular activities. All through my school and college life, I enjoyed participating in debates, sports etc. I was a school pupil leader and was a member of National Cadet Corps during secondary education and have worked towards maintaining the integrity of nation. I have attended conferences and live workshops which made me understand the rapid advancements made in the field of dentistry. Iam also working as a dentist in a private hospital from the past 1 year so that I could gain the experience required to make me a good doctor.

I developed an interest in Oral Biology during my 3rd year where I learned about advanced diagnostic techniques and in my final year I studied periodontics where I understood the pathogenesis and therapeutic approaches for the management of various diseases. Convergence of these basic and clinical

There are two instances in my life that has inspired me to gain interest in medicine. My grandmother when I was around the age of twelve received double bypass surgery and I fell in love with the physician who took care of her. The physician was a middle aged woman who was one of the kindest person I have ever met, and she gave us the news of how everything went fine during surgery. She also gave us great confidence in how my grandmother would return to normal soon. The look on my parents and aunts face when she gave the news gave me goosebumps and to this day I feel the same goosebumps when I think about this. I just wanted to one day be in a position to deliver good news to a family and to see that “look” of relief on their faces. Another…
