Staples Corporate Culture
When Staples, Inc. begins establishing an action plan to improve its corporate culture, the following must be considered prior to releasing its corporate plan: timing; employee buy-in; management commitment; resources.
Timing is critical in corporate wide initiative implementation if Staples, Inc. intends to succeed. Improving its culture will not occur instantly and detailed planning must occur for Staples, Inc. to successfully carry out a cultural change. Understanding how changing Staples, Inc.’s culture will be a long and tedious task; establishing a target date to roll out new objectives will be important when Staples, Inc. begins setting its long-term goals. Examination of Staples, Inc.’s current and projected activities should take place to minimize negative impact on present and upcoming corporate performance requirements, gaining support of employees, and limiting previously identified strategies.

Due to a “seeing is believing” attitude, unseen results equals failure to some people. If Staples, Inc. has attempted previous cultural improvement plans without success or attempted short-term fixes to appease poor worker attitudes, it will be challenged to regain and build worker confidence in management or the organization. Providing objectives, projected timing, and result expectations will improve the associates’ understanding of reasoning and outlook.
