Imagine our little brothers, sisters, or even our children having hard times learning at school. Now imagine them not being able to proceed to the next level of their education because they scored low on one of their tests. Standardized testing has been around for centuries; since the 1800’s to be exact, and every year since then the average success rate in the US for students K-12 has decreased. It doesn’t take doing research on success rates to know that the world we live in today is not at the educational level it once was. School should be something people look forward to not something they dread. We should eliminate standardized testing in the US because not everyone learns the same way. So many restrictions come with taking a test that will affect our futures for better or for worse. This is one of the reasons why students around the world go through a lot of stress causing them to do whatever it takes to pass these tests such as cheating or taking performance drugs. Stress is psychologically and physically harmful. We shouldn’t have to stress over a test that won’t give us feedback on how we can improve our test …show more content…
Not all students will be able to comprehend and/or learn concepts as well as others. Standardized tests do not portray real-life skills. Teachers are straying from actually doing what they can to help students explore their brain’s full potential and focusing on overachieving competitors’ test scores. Schools need to focus on each individual and their natural born skills, harvest them, and allow them to grow and unravel for them to succeed in whatever field of work they choose to

    Do you hate staring at a computer/ piece of paper for more than two hours and answering questions? I am sure most people would answer “no”, and that is why standardized testing puts more harm than good in today’s world. Standardized testing causes a lot more problems than usual. It used to be a part of life, but now it’s causing kids not to go to college, and it’s causing kids to have a level of stress that shouldn’t even be allowed. People all over are stating that they give a false overview of who the student actually is, and in the end, these tests won’t get you anywhere in life. It’s important to many people including students who are taking the tests, teachers who are preparing the students for these tests, and of course the parents who have to deal with all the complaints from their child about these tests. This is a pretty important issue today, because so much is riding on these tests. If you do poorly you won’t get accepted to the university you want, or your teacher could get fired because of your performance. Although some people think standardized testing is just a part of life and it teaches students that it’s not okay to fail, these tests give a false interpretation of who the student actually is. One score does not tell you if that person is an outstanding individual or not.
