St Cloud Tech Short Story
One late, Thursday night, under our home court, we played St. Cloud Tech. We played them earlier in the season, so we were ready to take them down another round. I was a little sad because I knew that I probably was not going to play this game, but I would not let that affect my attitude. Once we started, I continued to warm up and cheer as I always would. The whistle blew; my team won the first set. Once the second set started, I heard the whistle blow again. This time it signaled something else. It was a substitution, meaning I was going in to play. I was ecstatic that I got the chance to play with my friends and prove to my coaches. After some very intense volleys, the whistle blew once more. We, the Sartell Sabres, had won the second set and were moving on to the third set. While …show more content…
Addy approached me before I got the chance. She right away hugged me. Our hug was a happy hug because we could not stand still. During our hug her words stuck to me. She told me, “I am so proud of you” and “you did so good tonight!” her words really hit me and made me realize, she was a not only a teammate and friend, but a leader. She showed me that night, that its not just about the game its about the teammates as well. She would always listen to me and find time to talk to me. Addy always encouraged me to keep trying. She is someone you remember as being selfless; she cares about everyone and everything and always knows how to find the positive in a situation. Her impact in my life has inspired me to always put other before me and to not worry about what other think and to always encourage everyone. She inspired me to always be determined and work hard because you will never go unnoticed. Volleyball may have ended but there are many other times in my future where this may occur and I will always remember Addy because she reminds me that I can accomplish anything. People may call me unbreakable but I think the person that fits that better is

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

We were the champions. Skating as fast as possible, I rushed from the blue line to the net where our goalie was. Our team dog piled on top of one another and screamed with joy. Cheering and crying rang throughout the entire arena. I was elated, tears streamed down my face as I hugged my teammates. After a few seconds, our team recognized that we needed to shake hands with the other team. I understood the defeat and sadness in the opposing teams’ eyes because earlier in the year, I lost to an underdog team in the soccer section final. After the hand shaking, I was a given a medal from my coach.…

A memory from my athletics that will stick with me forever was the last time I was able to lace up and play basketball on our home court. We played a long time rival, Aquin. The game was down to the wire and I was able to tie the game with 24 seconds left. Then we got the ball back and Ellie was fouled with about a second left, which if anyone on our team were to be put on the line, I would choose her. She went up and swooshed the first shot! Then, since Aquin wouldn't be able to get the rebound, make it down the court, and shoot with the time left, coach told her to miss the second shot. Ellie then winded up and chucked the ball right off the backboard so they ended up getting the ball out of bounds anyway. We blocked the throw in, and I ran…

After finishing my breakfast the game started and I was a starting point guard and i was also the jumper. I tipped the ball to my team we started with it. By the end of the first quarter we were up 12-0 with all points scored by me. In the second quarter we started with the ball and immediately scored on the other team. After scoring the immediate basket we all knew this quarter was going to be like the first one, a total blow out. We ended the second quarter 21-0 still with all points scored by me.…

Our second game was against the former coach for UNA, Jason Anderson. Coach Anderson was the original coach who offered me a scholarship to UNA. The tension was high, due to familiar faces. We ended up having to play them twice and we beat them both times. After winning all four games we reached the Championship series. Humbolt, from New York, was our biggest obstacle we had to face. The team with the best two out of three wins was to be named the National Champs. The first game we played, we lost to Humbolt. The loss hit us hard and our spirits were down. All season we had not faced a pitcher that shut us down completely. Walking to the locker room after that loss, felt as if we had already became runner up in the Championship series. Beating Humbolt twice the next day, seemed to be an impossible task. We sat in silence as tears ran down our faces. Our coaches let us cry and let us get our emotions out. She knew the pressure we felt and the adversity that was staring us in the face. After 30 minutes of silence, one of the players brought up the games we had to play against UAH. Another player mentioned the victory against Valdosta, and we were instantly reminded that we were capable of anything. We knew that all of the hard work we had put in was not going to waste. We were not going to settle for anything else but a National…

It was a fun game to watch, as we all thought about us playing on that court the next day. It was finally game day, and we had to play Stewartville, 2nd place from Minnesota. They were athletic, but we ended up winning the close match. Our next rival was the Bismark Thunder, 1st in North Dakota and last year's national champions. We were nervous since the were taller, stronger, faster, and just better than us. We lost to them, but we were fired up to play for 3rd place. The team headed over to the Target Center for the 3rd place game. Playing there was so neat, being under the lights, having them announce your name, and just being with the tam. We played Grafton, who placed 2nd at state in North Dakota. They looked like us, athletically, so we weren’t too worried. We came out with a bang, ready to play. Darby and Ellie pushed it up the court on fast breaks, giving us the early lead. Rilee and I played great defense on the post, as well as Marlee on the wing. Jenny came in and scored a couple before halftime. We were tied 17-17 at the half, and we knew we would have to work even harder. Halftime was over, and we played our hearts out the rest of the game. Mavis and Paige played great offensively, as well as Taylor on defense. We beat Grafton, 36-34, with Darby’s 1:00 left, 2-point shot. We were so happy that we had pulled off that win! We spent the next hour at the…

Twenty years ago she came into my life and because of her I am a better person. If not for her I never would have been so dedicated and excited to play sports. Thanks to Aim my life revolved around sports and this allowed me to release my frustrations and be a part of team. She once said to me “Teddy your team is an extension of your family and family is all any of us have.” She was the best member any family could ever have and I am honored to call her my aunt. Before she officially became my aunt she was my mentor, my coach and my biggest fan. From her I learned to take pride in my actions, to do my best and to never take people for granted. One time she took me to one of our many wrestling meets and I had to wrestle a girl. I was 13 years old and had been raised to never hurt a female. The girl beat me by points because I couldn’t go all out and I was extremely embarrassed. She consoled me and assured me that it was just a fluke. Then later that day I had to face the…

When I awoke on that Sunday morning, I visited my grandmother who was living with us at the time. Being an extremely religious 88 year old woman, my grandma (Nonna) wished me a happy birthday and handed me the most beautiful gold necklace. It shined with such brilliance and there was an angel depicted on the front. She explained to me that it was a guardian angel and she believed it had helped her through tough times. Without a second thought I accepted the thoughtful gift and left for my championship volleyball tournament which consisted of 12 teams. Upon arrival, we checked in and progressed to the gym. The sharp smell of wax felt cold in my nose as I met up with my team. I still had my birthday card from my grandmother with me so before our first game I read it and it mentioned that in its origin, my name meant that the lord has answered and how thankful she was to be able to see me grow up. I put it away and played 11 teams. Our team was completely worn out to a point where I could feel sweat collect and swiftly stream down my back. I was burning but my skin was cold when the final game began for the championship title. Our team was desperate, tired, and hopeless. It is impossible to win a game with that way . The game had a rough start, we knew we would lose and we all tried…

It was the tennis state championship final and he winner would go on to play in the national championships and if we won this match we would have gone through. My opponent and I had gone undefeated to this point and the winner would go through. I was very nervous before the game, I hadn’t seen him play yet and I didn’t know what to expect. We walked on the court and started warming up and I was surprised, he was not as good as I thought he was going to be. I won the toss and I served.…

Then the ball went across the court back forth, as if it were my focus that was focused on the ball, then focused on other things around me, like my adhd switch was flickering off and on. All I could think about was winning. My mind was set on a win I couldn't go home with a loss. Not that day. I was up, by a lot actually, as the score went up my confidence went up as well and suddenly the game got easier, as I kept hitting winners or the girl across the court kept making errors. I could read the frustration on her face, and her hands shaky, as we were both worn out. The girl was getting ready to serve the last point, sweat dripping off her face, she threw the ball up, spinning in the air, and made it over. The point lasted a while, but finally it ended, I won. I shook the girl's hand and walked to my parents who congratulated me. My mom congratulated me, wearing a smile on her face, I could see her excitement as she congratulated me.…
