Prompts
answers
When it happened
I would like to tell you about my enjoyable event which was our class’s spring camping, happened 32 years ago. At that time, I was in grade 6.

What was good about it
I was excited to take part in camping because it was the first time I have been camping. Five my classmates and I were assigned to cook. This made me worried and I wondered if I could do because every thing was done by my mother at home. We were cooking while our form teacher was guiding my classmates to build up the tent and take part in games which the school held. We both cooked and talked happily. Suddenly, one of my classmates shouted “terrible, terrible”. I asked her what happened, she told me that the soup was too salty to eat so everybody looked worried because it was going to lunch time but the most important thing was that we were afraid of our teacher’s complaint. Observing every thing around the place where we cooked, I saw some eggs in the basket. I immediately put the eggs into the soup therefore the problem was solved. And My classmates were happy and gave me compliment.
Why you particularly remember that event
In short, I particularly remember that event because I got compliment from my teacher and classmates that I never got before. That is also reason why I like cooking.

1. Do you think a school uniform is a good idea?

Personally, I think it’s necessary for students to wear uniforms when they are at school.
Firstly, Wearing uniforms encourages students to be proud of being students of their school because they are wearing uniforms with labels bearing their school’s name.
Secondly, Wearing uniforms helps students feel equal in many ways, whether they are rich or poor.
Finally, wearing uniforms is practical. A typical example of this is they don’t have to think of what to wear everyday.
Therefore, students in all schools should wear uniforms.
2. What are the major characteristics you think a teacher should have?
Những đặc điểm chính bạn nghĩ rằng một giáo viên phải có là?
In my experience, a teacher should have some major characteristics such as: love teaching, patience and easy of approach.
Firstly, he must have the heart for career for example, he has to love his pupils as his children and love his career and school. Secondly, a teacher must be patient because this patience helps him spend extra time explaining more about the lesson to help slow students understand the lesson. Finally, a teacher must be approachable. I mean he or she must be available to his students. He must be willing to meet the students after class to help them work out problems in school or in life. These are my ideas of major characteristics a teacher should have.

3. What are the advantages of a public high school / a private one?
A public school has many benefits.
Firstly, public school fee is not very high and this is a good support to children from poor family. Secondly, public schools are supported by the government. Therefore, there will be other favorable supports and children can benefit a lot from these supports. Finally public schools have a strong network all over the country, and it is therefore easy for children to attend another school when he has to follow his parents to a new place.

A private school has some benefits. Firstly, it has a simplified program and children do not have to study too many things. Secondly, it can invest more in the facilities and materials to help children achieve best results in study. Finally, it normally does not require too much paperwork for admission. In short, there are some benefits to attend a private school.

Topic 2: Describe a major change in your life
You should say:
What your change was
When it happened
It was a positive or negative change
How you felt Everybody has changes which influence their life and I am not an exception.
The major change in my life was when I lived in the dormitory during 3 years in college.

I had to leave my family to move into a room and to live with other students. At first, it was very difficult for me to live independently. I not only had to go shopping for myself and had to cook but also had to do all things that my parents had always done for me at home. It was also very difficult to live with unfamiliar people. The students in my room were from different hometowns and they had different hobbies so I had to be careful not to hurt my roommates.

However, I am happy that I managed very well during my stay in the dormitory. Now I can say that this change was very positive to me.

In short, Thanks to these 3 years, I became more matured and learnt the secrets to live in harmony with other people.

1. Do you think change is important in people’s life?
Yes, I think change is necessary for people’s life and that they can live their live from changes. Due to the fact that change can refer to something new in life, they can learn new things and experience what they have not seen before. For instance, in many leading companies, they encourage their employees to rotate job position, because career rotation potentially create competency in unexplored field and help to increase staffs’ activeness. Furthermore, changes contribute to better things; hence, people who accept changes will obtain better thing such as experience, convenience, etc.
In conclusion, in my opinion, although changes are vital for our living, we need to adapt and deploy these changes properly because change can result in failure that can ruin someone’s life forever.
2. Is it good if changes happen so quickly?
It depends to situation. For example, now, I am not rich but If I bought a lottery ticket, suddenly, I would win in the lottery. At that time, I could travel around the world or I could buy a villa.
3. Are changes in the city and in the countryside the same?
There is no chance that changes in the city and in the countryside the same.

Topic 3: Describe your free time activities
You should say:
What your free time activities are
Where you do these activities
With whom you do these activities
How you feel when doing these activities

There are two activities which I like doing best in my free time.

What I like the most about free time is that watching TV, walking and surfing the webs Firstly, I like watching television with my aunt at my home because TV is both cheap and convenient. We don’t have to go out, we can lie on the bed to watched TV, moreover, I can both watch TV and do the housework such as: cooking, ironing, washing… I think Television not only brings us more knowledge but also helps us to relax. It serves us 24 hours everyday with many kinds of different programs. Secondly, I also like jogging with my friends in the park near my house in the morning and in the evening as so to exchange our job and plan future activities as well as go sightseeing, talk together happily, moreover, the fresh air makes us comfortable. Finally, I enjoy using the internet on the phone because it is a very fast and convenient way for me to get information as well as communicate with my friends and relatives by means of email or chatting. For example, I usually use internet to chat with my brother who is living in the USA easily, we can talk and see together.

Topic4: Describe a film you have enjoyed watching
You should say:
What the name of the film is What the film is about How is differs from other films Why you consider this film so good.

Watching film is one of my favorite hobbies. I like both Vietnamese and foreign film. The film I like best is “The warm sunset” which was directed by Tran Ngoc Phong.

The film is about Mai Thanh’s life, the main character played by Nguyet Anh. She got lost her parents when she was young. She had an unhappy life. She grew up due to her neighbor’s love. When she was mature, she went to the city to find a job but unfortunately, she was raped by her boss and she had a baby. After that her daughter was taken care of by her kind neighbor. The film had a happy ending when Mai Thanh was married to a rich, handsome photographer. Especially, she met her parents again.

The film differs from others because the director spent a lot of time focusing on the main character. He himself built a main character who had grim fate but he found her a bright ending himself. That was the reason why the viewers were easy to remember the plot of the film.

I think the film is good because it not only has a good plot but also makes impression on the viewers because of excellent performance of Nguyet Anh

Throughout the years, there has been much debate with schools across the country on whether or not students should be allowed to wear uniforms. Through past experience with this argument, it’s safe to say that wearing a uniform is not a bad thing at all. Why? For one, uniforms stop other students from being judged on how they look, two, they save families money and students will not pressure their parents into buying clothes some families can’t afford, and lastly uniforms increase safety and security. So I do strongly agree that students should be able to wear uniforms.…

"Just slapping clothes on kids won't improve a school, but uniforms accompanied by other reforms can make a difference. Uniforms send a message and remind students that they are in school. One element of the message is that when you are going to school, that is your place of work. That is the place where you are working at getting smart." ~Joe Palumbo. Uniforms cause children to be more civilized and mature in what they are doing. It could lead the kids to a greater future and teach them to be more proper. It is a great idea for schools to implement a policy on school uniforms because it provides more focus to learning, reduces peer pressure, and increases school pride.…

Students can learn from uniforms in numerous different ways. Social pressures are what cause most scholars to dress inappropriately. If school uniforms are enforced students will learn modesty and chastity from repeated clothing choices every school day. Dictating school attire can also ensure that pupils of all races and backgrounds are welcome into any school. The schools that are confining apparel will set precedents for several other schools and encourage uniforms. School uniforms demonstrate what most occupation dress codes will go by from a day to day basis. Most workplaces require a strict dress code that does not allow racy and apathetic clothing. Uniforms illustrate professionalism in workplaces and overall prevent laziness. Lastly, uniforms show respect for your school, elevating the desire to represent your school.…
