Spring break
Last week of Spring Break! It’s Time to make this three days one of the best days of my life. As I bought my tickets on United Airlines all I could think of was “Wow I’m actually going to leave the country and explore marvelous wonders on my own”. One of the best countries of the world would be Italy; I always wanted to travel to Rome, where all I could smell is pasta and wine. All night all I could think of was the next day I would be in an airplane on my way to Italy eating pizza. My summer clothes were already folded and clean ready to get send to Italy, I hope it will be a shining and tropical week at my city. My luggage was full of swimsuits and sun tan lotion. Not only will I be away three days but I will have a chance to visit the areas where thousands of tourists go every year. My head was full of many ideas such as going to the Trevi fountain or heading out to the Colisseum. My mission is to enjoy my whole week around Rome without no distractions or issues. Tomorrow will be extravagant and tiring, around 8 hours of flight but worth it. Today I woke up around 6:00 am to get ready and head down to JF Kennedy airport. On my way to the airport I was thinking of the people I would miss such as my mother and father but I promised to call them every day and tell them about my journey. Waiting for my flight, I would see others like me awaiting our gateway and anxious to get out of the country. First thing I will do is unpack my luggage at the Aurora Gardens and head down to Ristorante Alla Rampa and order delicious lasagna with my red wine. As soon as my bus left me at my hotel, I threw off my shoes and put on my sandals with my coach sunglasses and headed to the streets. Walking down the street, I saw the Italian folks wearing beanies and long dresses while restaurants were covered with Italian flags. I could hear people exchange glasses and sing songs from centuries back. If I didn’t live in

Last year I was chosen to be a part of an Alternative Spring Break that focused on harvesting communities with migrant farmworkers in Immokalee, Florida. There, we learned about the injustices migrant farmworkers faced both in the fields and in their community and volunteered at locations that gave us an insight into their day-to-day life. Prior to our trip, we read articles depicting the discrimination most of the farmworkers face due to their immigration status, as well as articles on laws aiming to help workers earn their fair share. While reading an article on the increasing poverty levels in Immokalee, we decided that making an impact in the community did not have to last a week.…

Panama City Beach is a beautiful place to vacation. However, whether someone is a spring breaker or an older couple they will probably have different times they visit the beach. Panama City during spring break might be a bit overwhelming for an older couple. They probably will not have a good time if they visited during spring break. It is more enjoyable for an older couple to vacation in Panama City Beach during a weekday than it is during spring break because, there are no parties, it is cheaper, and it is less crowded.…

How can someone be claimed as insane? In the case of Andrea Yates, she was found not guilty by reasons of insanity. Clearly Andrea Yates was insane because of what she did. Andrea Yates murdered her five children. Andrea Yates has thought about killing her children for quite a while before she really did kill her children. Her husband Rusty Yates knew about his wife trying to kill their children and caught Andrea before she did it the first time. Andrea Yates attempted to kill her kids before and she didn’t kill them in earlier attempts because she didn’t think she was ready. I believe that Andrea Yates was insane because she has pre-planned killing her kids before and she finally did it.…

I had only gotten six hours of sleep. I didn’t want to get up but today is the day that I get to explore Chicago with my friends! Even though I felt exhausted I pushed myself up and got ready. I didn’t know whether to expect it to be warm like the last few days have been or if it would be cold, so I dressed for both. I pulled my sneakers on and collected my little bag full of snacks and essentials for walking around all day. Getting to school I go sit with my friends outside the gym as we anxiously wait for the bell to ring. We came up with our plan of where we wanted to go as we munched on our little breakfast.…

In the world of politics, one of the most important things is who you know. Knowing people will bring a politician success. Chris Matthew stressed one-on-one communication and “retail politics” in this first chapter of his book. He knows firsthand because he was in Washington for many years observing and learning. Not only is it necessary to know as many people as possible, but it is also important to make the person feel that their concerns are cared for on a personal level. Knowing people is not only important in the political world, but it is also important in the real world. The more people you know, the more opportunities will arise for you. In the book Chris Matthew talks about how many popular politicians rose to the top because they made the effort to get to know everyone, especially those who are important. This can apply to any work environment. Networking is a very important part of life. It is important for all of us to remember to treat each person with care because they will potentially be important in our lives.…

After my first week of the Summer Bridge Program at Penn St-Abington, I learned a lot about the differences between high school and college. I really understand in high school that you must be there during the allotted hours, success rides on the teacher, and that we can get away from not reading the text for class and in college you have more freedom, harder courses, and longer hours of studying. We learned how to become an efficient and effective learner. What I learned from that lesson is that, I have to focus much more and study much harder then what I did in high school. Also that college is no joke since it’s a privilege and that high school is a right that we have to go. To me the most effective strategy I learned is how to become a better listener and how to be a successful student in college. The way I’m going to be a better listener is by using study strategies, note taking strategies and go to a tutoring center if I have trouble. What I learned so far relates to the present is that some strategies I never used or thought about. In the future, I’m going to use tutoring center or use the professor’s office time for any question I don’t understand. In conclusion, I learned so far is going to change the way I look at college. I understand now that college is no place to mess around. It’s a place where you chose what you want to do in the long…

    Essay On My Identity

The course of my life changed forever in August of 2003, when my family and I made the move to the United States from a small town in northeastern Italy. Upon my arrival in the U.S I noticed, even at my young age, that gone were the rolling, lush hills of northern Italy; the sprawling vineyards and olive groves; the tiny, eclectic cars; the mature stone buildings; but most importantly, gone was everything I had known before. What greeted me in the U.S was an entirely new language, an unfamiliar culture, and the melting pot of people, all of which I needed to confront head on. Unbeknownst to me at the time was the fact that this new country would be the place where most of my memories would be made; the place that would feel most like my home. From that moment on, my life continued to be molded around this new country and I began to gradually relinquish my old life in Italy and even traces of the culture and traditions that I used to value so highly.…

This coming weekend I am planning to go to my dream vacation with my family. I want to go to Santa Barbara. It is going to be a long trip, so before w go I am going to reserve our hotel room and book our tour to go see the amazing Heart Castle. Also, I am going to buy a train ticket so we can enjoy our trip and see fun locations. The first day we are going to stay at a beautiful hotel called “Madonna”. This hotel is all pink with flowers roses everywhere it has a nice lounge, a confortable room, and there food is also delicious. The second day we will swim in the ocean and my husband is planning to make some barbeque for the family around the beach. At seven o’clock I am going to go to a concert and have fun with my husband. While we are there we are planning to go wine tasting with my family because I love to drink wine. On Sunday morning our bus will take us to Hearst Castle. The museum opens at 8:00 a.m. in the morning and it is a long tour. Because Heart Castle is extremely big we are going to buy a ticket individually to be able to explore all the rooms possible in a day. I am very excited about this vacation because this vacation will be amazing, enjoyable, and relaxing for all of us.…

Spring break is meant to give kids a much needed break from the rigors of the long school year. While some families use this time for their annual vacation, others stay home and keep it simple. A staycation is a must for many families as work and financial constraints are too much for a getaway. Staying close to home doesn’t mean your kids have to settle for any less fun.…

Long stretch of summer vacation is one of the arguments that some parents and educators are arguing about. They say that the school year should be changed so that there wouldn’t be a 10-week summer break. But for me the school year should not be changed. Students should still have 10-week summer break. Students are just humans they also need to rest and relax even just for 10-week. 10-week summer break is the time for students to enjoy and have a fun time with their family. Summer is for students for them to relax, be productive, and enjoy more quality time with their family.…

Throughout my ten years of school, I have completed countless vocabulary tests and math questions. My whole life, school has always started at about 8:00 am and it always has the same pattern. Attend class to learn from the teacher, do homework, turn the homework in, repeat. All of these activities use the brain, so they should all be logged in my memory— but they’re not. However, I do remember a trip that my dad took me on to southern Utah.…

I remember the cool breeze of the night that greeted me as I stepped out of the Chicago O'Hare International Airport. My mind was a melting pot of thoughts and emotions, threatening to bubble over as I take in the overwhelming beauty of the city before me. The problem was that the only planning that went into this spontaneous vacation was: "architecture, pizza and gangsters". And I had no idea how or if I could satisfy the hunger for this city that suddenly encased me. But I thought, for now, getting to my hotel, The Talbott (an incredible place and reasonably priced with an amazing view), and finding a few tours wouldn’t hurt.…

    Mid Term Break

The two poems I am discussing are called Mid-Term Break and Blackberry-Picking by Seamus Heaney. The first poem, Mid-Term Break is about the persona’s grief about his younger brother who was tragically killed in a car accident. In this poem, the persona tells us about the environment and his feeling about the saddest incident that has happened in the family. The second poem, Blackberry-Picking is about the enjoyment of the persona picking blackberries during summer but at the end of the poem the persona expresses his frustration about the freshly blackberries that had rotted. Both of these poems are reflecting the poet views of life. Most of his poem is realistic and telling us about his experiences in his life. He did not look life is as a difficult and complex. He just takes life as the beautiful and memorable thing happened in his life. Writing a poem is the way for him to share to us that life is full of experiences.…
