Sports Captain Nomination / Speech
Dear Selection Board,
My name is ________ and I am excited to apply for the position of Sport Captain and Sport-Spirit Prefect. A key attribute of these positions is representation; the act of speaking and acting on behalf of someone. I feel that to adequately represent something, you have to have a good understanding of it. Firstly, a Sport Captain/Prefect represents the school. I have been fortunate to have been a member of the community for close to 11 years and during this course of time, I have been immersed in the school’s sporting opportunities and sporting programs.
Secondly, a Sport Captain/Prefect represents his teammates and peers. Within the community I am deeply involved in a variety of sports. Since grade 8 I have represented the College every year in Swimming, Basketball and Water Polo, culminating in the honor of representing the college in the open teams for each of these sports. For my efforts in the sporting arena, last year I was awarded a bronze (4 or more sports) and silver (water polo) sport awards. In 2013 I also received a silver sport award for being a participant of 4 or more A teams. I have also been a member of the Met West 18 years and under Water Polo team for the last 2 years. I have a solid work and training ethic allowing myself to understand the importance of succeeding within the sporting arena and the work involved to achieve good results. Being involved in a diverse amount of sports uniquely positions me to represent the school sporting community. I feel I have the ability to relate to and therefore facilitate a successful sporting functions across the school and form an effective relationship between student, coaches and staff.
Having already created good relationships across many areas of the College, it allows me to be approachable and increases my opportunity to understand and pre-empt issues that may arise. Good leaders are good communicators and this involves both speaking and listening. Although the

    Dance Team Captain

The term captain is synonymous with the term leader. By definition, a leader is someone who is in an advanced position to take the initiative in order to go forth and show the way. A dance captain should be able to make intelligent and creative decisions quickly and efficiently. Dance teams are all about unity. An exceptional group glides across the floor with all of its dancers moving as one. There are no individual standouts. No weak links. But there is one person whose job is to make the team as strong as possible, on the floor and off. It’s one thing to be a good team player, but it's another to be a good captain. Few will have the opportunity to feel the weight of the responsibilities and the happiness of knowing you're making a difference. Being captain of any type of organization in my eyes is a huge job. It’s teaching respect by showing respect. It’s helping 11 girls, including myself, strive and push themselves to be the best dancers I know we all can be. Having the title of captain doesn’t mean being the boss of everyone, being in the front in every dance, or just thinking that the captain should come before everyone else. Captains are the inspiration of the team. They’re the person that everyone on the team looks up too. Being a natural born leader is also a big role of dance team. That means having self-confidence, good communication skills, courage, clear desire to make progress towards a goal, and a fair degree of understanding your fellow teammates. Being a captain requires you to focus on the big picture, doing what’s best for your team even on your worst days. If you’re negative, the team will take on the same attitude, even if everyone else has had a great day. As captain of your dance team, you’ll definitely encounter some sticky situations, like having to confront your friends when they aren’t practicing full-out or telling an injured teammate that she’ll have to sit out a performance. But it’s…

Good evening everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying their night. My name is Keyona and I was the one of the 4 captains chosen for the 2011 Montclair High School Cheerleading Squad. During my 3 years on the squad, I’ve had so many memories, good and bad, that helped me grow as a person. Cheerleading throughout my high school career took part in shaping me as the person I am today. I’d like to congratulate this year’s squad for making it through the season successfully as a new team. There were a lot of ups and downs, but I think we handled each situation well. As the season progressed, I’ve formed bonds with many of the girls on the team that will last me way beyond my high school experience. Some of the girls I think more of sisters than team mates. You guys made my experience more than enjoyable by joking, laughing, and having fun every time I stepped through gym doors. Even if my day was horrible, SOMEONE made me laugh or smile and my frown was quickly turned upside down. I’d like to thank Ms. Rob and Ms. HB for giving me the opportunity to be captain this year. They taught me to have a tough skin and to keep my head up in any situation I face in life. If I had the choice to pick different coaches for the squad, I wouldn’t because nobody could take their place in my eyes. Most importantly, I’d like to thank my mother Lisa White for motivating me and being there whenever I needed her. Even though she punished me every Saturday after each home game with washing loads of dishes from when she made cookies the night before, it was worth it. Overall, the season was unforgettable and I wouldn’t give my spot up as captain for the world. Thank you guys and enjoy the rest of your time here at the…

Over the weekend, I thought what can I do to help improve the team. Well I can improve skill, change attitude for the better, and how will the decision I made along with our coach of me being a captain affect the team.…

I Noldylens Metayer want to be a captain for the Varsity football team for the 2015 season because from my perspective I think the reason we lose games is because of discipline and mental mistakes. The reason I was man enough to pick up an application is because I want to lead my team to the FCIAC Championship. Another reason is that I want to discipline my teammates if any mistakes are made or any childish behavior is occurrence. And my last reason is to help my teammates in school and getting them extra help. I chose to become a captain because I'm tired of seeing tears coming out of my teammates eyes.…

From the time I was five years old to the time I turned sixteen, I've played soccer. My brother, being seven years older than me, always challenged me to lead my team even when I was young. As a result, I was in control of the team's defense when on the field. Come when I turned thirteen, I was made the captain of my competitive soccer team; My duty as captain entailed delegating on-field roles to my teammates and making sure they were playing the right positions. Also, It was my duty to read the on-field situation and change our game plan to best fit our style as we played. This created a sense of flexibility that has become engrained in my brain ever since. The role of captain may not sound very applicable to an on-campus leader, yet, I'd…

Joining the future business leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, becoming a youth leader at Christ Church, as well as many other volunteering activities helped me enrich my community, and make an impact in the world around me. Along with these organizations, I have played several sports in high school, in my junior and senior years I settled on my two favorite sports, track and field, and volleyball. Within these sports I have made friendships with my teammates I will never forget, and learned important lessons in humbleness when winning, and cohere with my friends when losing. By being a member of any sports teams at my high school, I regularly attended many of my school’s events, giving me the opportunity to develop relationships, and gain a tremendous sense of pride in my school. My name is Kaleigh Gonzales I’m a 15 year old sophomore and I’m running for the 2014-2015 officer position of reporter for Armwood High Schools FFA Chapter. I feel I should be selected for this position because not only am I a people person but I am also extremely organized. I think this would make me be able to effectively and efficiently get the Armwood FFA’s chapter name known to the public. I would also try to do this by doing any and all public service projects we can get our hands on, then publishing our successes. I believe that to make a difference you have to be known and respected by the community around you. In the past three years I have served as Vice President for Burnett Middle School for two terms and Treasurer for Armwood high school for one term. In this time I’ve competed many events including forestry, land judging, vet assisting, OCC, creed speaking, and extemporaneous public speaking. By doing this I’ve gained lots of experience and love in our great organization. I believe to be this year’s reporter I have to not only work on our clubs public media aspects but also work hard in competitions to win and better our chapters’ reputation. If I were to describe the technique in which I lead I would have to say that I plan , I tell others my plan , and then I depend on my team to help me. They tell me where they specialize in and what they want to do for me, and we work form there. I try to let people do what makes them happy while still helping me. I can make a personal promise that I will always work my hardest to make FFA my top priority, a position like this requires my full attention. My other activity I engage in is that I am a First sergeant of alpha company in JROTC, this means I am the second in command of one of three company’s in our schools only JROTC battalion. I promise that my responsibilities there will not interfere with my responsibilities regarding FFA. Some activities I want to do this year are competitions like OCC and…
