Thesis statement: The game of basketball is a recreational sport that is made up with 5 different positions on each team. They are Point Guard, Shooting guard, Small forward, Power forward and the Center. Preview: Because I love playing the game of basketball, I’m going to tell you the basic positions in basketball. BODY
I. Main point 1: The point guard is the team leader.
A. The point guard is like the quarterback in basketball who calls the plays and gets the offensive team going. 1. According to ducksters, a point guard has to have good ball handling, and passing skills as well as leadership on the court. (Duckster 2012,1) 2. A point guard has the hardest role in basketball. The point guard needs to decide when to shoot, pass or move. (Glaser 2010, 4) 3. They must direct their teammates and track their opponents. (Glaser, 2010,4) B. They are good at making plays.
1. To see everything on the court it will make things easier for the point guard to make plays. 2. For example, Gary payton back when he use to play for the Lakers, normally he would past to his best shooter which is Kobe Bryant, but however he was guarded tightly so he seen his teammate Derek fisher wide open he passed to him and fisher made the game winning buzzer beater, Lakers won. ( Glaser, 2010, 5)
