Point Guard Research Paper
There are many positions in basketball to explain but I am going to explain one position. The position i am going to explain is the point guard the other positions are shooting guard, small forward , and center. There are 5 people on the court so it doesn't get to out of hand. The point guard plays offense and defense. The point guard plays on top of the key on offense to get the points for his team or runs plays to score a basket another way. He calls out plays so they can get a open shot against the other team Also, the point guard likes to shoot threes or drive to the hoop to get a and 1 or a foul. The point guard is really good at dribbling the ball and can break ankles on the court when he is on offense. When there is not a lot of time on the clock and the point guard has the ball and he is losing by one with 10 seconds left he runs down the court to shoot a three or a two or drive in for layup to get the fouled. Point guard usually call out the play though on offense. …show more content…
On defense the point guard is on top of the key or plays on the elbow on the court. Most of the time the point guard plays against the best player on the court when he is on defense. But if he is playing zone he either plays a two three when he is playing zone. But when the point guard is playing man he plays on a kid his size or someone really good so the good player on offense doesn't score a point to get back into the game.

In conclusion there are many ways to explain the way a point guard plays but that is how I explain it. But I know that the point guard is the captain of the team if he is really good. I explain the way how to play point guard because I sometimes play point in basketball. Now you should be able to play point guard in

Since a young age I have been a huge fan of basketball, and of course being from New York, I am a fan of the New York Knicks. The all-star player of the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony, played college basketball at Syracuse. The season of his freshmen year, Carmelo led his team to their first NCAA Championship. He also was awarded the Most Outstanding Player award. Soon after, the Denver Nuggets drafted Carmelo Anthony with the third overall pick. He then went on to achieve his dreams of playing in the NBA and has since been a nine time All-Star. Seeing how Syracuse helped Carmelo achieve his dreams, I had always wanted to go to Syracuse to pursue my dreams.…

Some basketball players have strange free throw shooting routines. There are a number of reasons why they perform this act: they're meant to simply have a good grip of the ball (it can get real wet at times during the game), to establish a signature style, to improve free throw shooting, or being plainly superstitious. Who are these players? Let's check it out!…

The positions required for court volleyball are quite different from beach volleyball. Court volleyball requires there to be six people on each side of the court. The players wear knee pads and ankle braces to protect their bones and joints, and they wear tennis shoes for traction and foot protection. Each player has a specific job. There are passers, blockers, hitters, setters, and defensive specialists; generally there is one of each, with an additional hitter, although everyone on the court can play almost any role at a given time. Since there are so many people on the court, there is a higher chance of one of the players touching the ball and keeping it in play than it hitting the floor and becoming a dead ball.…

Basketball is a very aggressive, fun, and intense sport that I like to play. It was created by James Naismith in 1861. He also designed the first football helmet. The first basketball game was played in 1891 at what is now Springfield College. My favorite position to play in the game is defense. I love to play defense because it’s so fun to block the other team’s shots and also I like stealing the ball from them and then scoring a layup. I also like to play offense because it’s so exciting when I score points for my team. I like juking people, which means getting past them, and shooting three-pointers and doing all the fancy moves like behind the back, between the legs, crossovers, and the spin move.…

Each player on a Netball court has a specific position, area and job on the court. The players are labelled with an abbreviation of their position, written on their uniform. The players are divided into two groups, the Attackers and the Defenders. The Attackers can run for the ball when it is passed to them, but the Defenders must protect the ball and try to get it away from the Attackers side of the court. The centre must stay on their opposing centre because they are not Attackers or Defenders; their job is to get the netball across to their side of the court.…
