Florence’s Café

The smell of fresh baked bread roaming through the Treasure Cay Marina; the urge of finding where is it coming from, and the suspense that it brings is one of my favorite things. Searching to locate the lovely scent of sweet pastries and home made cinnamon rolls, finally leads you to your destination, the one and only, Florence’s Café! On the lovely Island of Abaco, in the settlement of Treasure Cay, you will find the Florence Café. It’s in a building that has a variety of stores, but when you step in to the café, you will automatically realize how homey it is. The tables are decorated with tropical table cloths both inside and outside the café. The pictures on the wall of family and friends depict how special and meaningful the café is. The warmth and love that you feel when you enter that place is overwhelming. Everyone is friendly and cares deeply about your happiness. Just when you walk in the door, your eyes goes directly to the pastries and all of the sweets that Florence’s has to offer. You will definitely want to try everything because it looks so scrumptious. For that particular individual who constantly worries about their weight, I promise you, that thought will be the furthest thing from your mind. All you will want to do is enjoy your time there and probably consider it as a treat for yourself. Florence, the café owner, is the sweetest person ever. She always has a smile on her face. I’ve never seen her upset or sad. I’m sure that she does get upset -“she is human”- but ever since I could remember, she was always a joyful person. Florence makes everyone feel so comfortable, no matter who you are, tourist or local. In her eyes we are all the same. She always has the most interesting stories to share with you, whether it’s about the history of the café or about Treasure Cay itself. Florence is a one of a kind, there is no one like her! To me, it’s as if she’s

First, I noticed how far this place was from where I live. The restaurant was in Snellville. As we arrived the building was made of this type of stone brick. The roof was made of the red tile shingles you would usually find on the roofs of houses in California. To me when I first entered it smelled like freshly mopped floor. A group of hosts greeted us at the door with a big smile and a “Hola Senoritas!”…

When asked to write an essay about a song of significance to me, I thought to myself, “This is going to be an easy grade”. But because of my love for music of all kinds, I found that the choice of which song to write about was even harder than I imagined. After a few days of contemplation and battling with what I felt would be most appropriate for my English professor to read, I decided to write about a song called “Making Memories of Us” by Keith Urban. I fell in love with this song for its beautiful, smooth melody and genuine words. I had no idea this song would make a permanent impression in my life.…

As my family and I stepped d in, we were greeted and welcomed with loud beautiful music, which older families wouldn’t enjoy. I stood head to toe with the overwhelming menu of countless different meal choices. It was nicely dressed in a antique wrap of design around the edges. Each menu choice was separated in categories labeled with elegant and beautiful text, which made me love this place with more passion. I didn’t have one thought of my first choice of a meal for the night. To get saved from the black hole of the Riscky's menu was the generous waiter dressed in a formal manner. She walked up to our smooth wood grain finish table and greeted us with pure sincere gratitude knowing that we didn’t have one clue of what to order. She explained her favorite dish on the menu and I was absolutely certain It was soon to be my favorite as well.…

First, the atmosphere I see when I arrive, provides a serene message to make me feel like I’m in Italy. The tables are long rectangles or small and quaint, while the seating provides a atmosphere of warmth and comfort. In fact, it’s always well maintained and clean. As I walk in, the immediate smell of delicious food in the air makes my mouth water. The playing of low themed music, helps me relax while seated. The several ceiling fans provide comfort and keeps a cool breeze inside Olive Garden. The bathrooms smell like I entered a Yankee Candle store. The smell of strawberry conceals the normal odors in a bathroom and the many stalls almost guarantee no line.…

Love, it knows no color, has no prejudices or face. When comparing the Beatles song “In My Life” and “the Embrace” by Mark Doty, the main theme the two talk about is their love for someone. They are both reminiscing of love that they no longer have. Both poems were published after 1900, “In My Life” released December 1965 and “the Embrace” written in 1998. With over thirty years between the poem and song each is written simply. The tone is sad and easy for a person to read and understand easily. However, it is love we are talking about so will we ever really understand it?…

"Look at this, a rare Carla! She moves, she breaths!" Kayla started laughing as she looked through the menu and I glared at her. "I hate you." I mumbled and she just grinned. Immediately upon walking through the elegant double doors, the sweet aroma of butter envelopes the air around me causing me to rapidly salivate. The smell of nacho cheese accompanies the butter fragrance and I quickly begin to picture the many tasty treats behind the square concession area that is located in front of me. Candy galore is perfectly aligned behind the glass case further enticing my taste buds. A perfect temperature keeps me comfortable and makes me wish my home's temperature could be this perfect. One well groomed attendant generously overfills a striped bag with freshly popped popcorn and delicately hands it to a young boy standing next to his mother. Colorful posters line the walls around me, showing a glimpse into what lies behind the doors located down the hallways. The softness of the bench I am sitting on causes me to wonder if I am perched upon a cloud. Intermittent bursts of laughter can be heard coming from down the long hallways as well as in the lobby creating an atmosphere of endless fun. Smiling faces of children, teenagers, and adults quickly pass by me and I can hear the attendant quickly tear their perforated tickets as he happily says, "To the left, third door on your right."…

I could see the intricate designs of grapevines that had been masterfully carved into the light oak posts that held the entryway above my head. Through a miniature window on the far side of the room, I could get a slight glance of the steaming pasta noodles that had been drenched in luscious red spaghetti sauce, before the waitress guided us to our seats. I could feel anticipation building up as the waitress guided us to one of the most well placed tables in the whole restaurant. The light brown, cloth drapes that rested against the smooth brick wall of the restaurant grazed my arm as I passed under one of the exits outside. As soon as the fresh air whipped my face, the noticeable scent of fresh chocolate mousse cake assaulted my nose. I could feel the soft, plush cushioning that rested underneath my backside as I sat down to great relief. My eyes scanned my surroundings, taking in all the sights and smells that I could contain within myself without being overwhelmed. Of all the places to be right then, Charleston was the one. I had experienced the smell of chocolate, the taste of lasagna, the sound of the ocean, the sight of warm, crisp sand, and the feeling of being happy and glad for what I…

Indie rock is known as a kind of music that was born in the Britain. It was nicknamed thus because of the independent label allowed more “musical freedom”. This kind of music today is everywhere. Generally, this genre music uses unique instruments and for this reason this music is unique too, but less popular than others genres. (Billings, 2006) The sounds in indie rock are mixtures of almost everything and lyrics are about the nature and introspection. (Herrera, 2015). I’m going to contrast two indie rock bands one from Britain and other from Latin America.…

In many instances, songs have been written to explain events that are going on in the world. The song “ brother, can you spare a dime” by Rudy Valle justifies that. In 1932 when the song was produced it was during the great depression where the unemployment rate was 24.1% and the economy was in a down ward spiral.…

Art has many different meanings to me. First thing I would look for in a painting would be to find out who the author is of the painting itself. Then the next thing I would look for in a painting would be how the author felt while painting a picture. For example the color would tell me what the person felt before painting. Third and foremost thing I would do is research on the painting so I could find out the value of the painting…
