Soccer Strength Training
Soccer strength training is mostly gotten right by few soccer players. Players need excellent state of both aerobic and anaerobic endurance that will last them the entire duration of a game. The upper body strength should be there to be able to resist challenges.
The mere lifting of weights like bodybuilder does not do you any good but rather a disservice to the game of soccer and yourself.
Bodybuilding athletes, and those shoes sports are basically strength based, do train to increase size, be bulk and increase their maximal strength. Most of them are not too bother if their training is to the disadvantage of their aerobic endurance level or even with their agility and flexibility.

Muscular Power
Power is a end result of both complete strength and the speed of movement. This is achieved by increasing both the speed and strength without lowering any of the two. Increase either one (without lowering the other) and you increase explosive power.
Plyometrics training is another high and effective means of power training. Plyometrics connects the gap between strength and speed by merging elements of both in single movement patterns.
Strength Endurance
The ability of a muscle group to perform repeated, high-intensity movements is referred to as strength or muscular endurance. Strength endurance is important for soccer - and like power, perhaps more essential than all-out strength. A player at some point of his training must focus on developing strength endurance.

But we should note that, just as strength training for soccer entails more than just lifting weights, soccer endurance training comprises more than just running endlessly.
Combine that with the circumstance that much of that running involves high intensity sprints, challenges, jumps and tackles and you can see the reason why endurance soccer training becomes the basis of any fitness regime.

Also in soccer there is the goalie. The role of them is to block off the ball from getting to the goal. This position is using the ATP-PC system as she/he is standing still most the game, only moving in short bursts when they are catching/defending off the ball. Lastly there are the forwards. The job of these people is to score the goals. The forwards are most of the time moderate paced running/jogging or short sprints to get the ball to the goal. This is part of the lactic acid system.
