Snowman Narrative
Sticking two black button eyes on our snowman, I turned and gave Charlie a high-five. "Finished!" I said. "And there's not a finer snowman in the whole neighborhood." But Charlie wasn't looking at me. He was staring at the snowman, his face almost as white.

"D-d-d-did you s-s-s-see THAT?" he stammered. ... I looked over at the snowman and saw him walking off, I screamed and ran after him with my friends and we got to the snowman but and we tried to stop it but we couldn't, so we decided to let it do what it wanted to do. We were walking back to the house and we saw all the other snowman walking right towards where our snowman was.we rushed toward the house and locked the door. We got some hot chocolate and drank it while looking at the window

On the surface, Cold Mountain is the tale of a man trying to find his way home. However, once looked at in more detail, it is seen as a story of a man looking for faith. From the very first step, Inman’s journey is one of faith, a faith that he has lost in the Civil War and is on the road to recovering. We know little of Inman's life prior to his journey, but what we do learn tells us that he was at one point a Christian. In his youth he had been taught, and he believed in, the basics of the Christian faith. Specifically, he believed in heaven, the immortality of soul, and that we are all children of God. Cold Mountain is the story of a man who has undergone a traumatic experience, the likes of which has stolen away from him all optimism and hope for a better tomorrow.…

I felt the stock of my bow while I was sitting in the blind. Frost had already began to form where I rubbed it off seconds ago. I looked through the small window at the everlasting snow. “Wait, was that a deer moving along those trees?” I asked myself. It looked more like a kangaroo making its way through the snow. I could barely stand up in the cold. I pulled back, ready to take the shot.…

At six years old, I believed in magic. I believed in Atlantis. I even believed in the Tooth Fairy. I would wake up in the middle of the night convinced that I would finally catch the Tooth Fairy. However, all I would ever find was a dollar hidden under my pillow. Out of all the things I believed in, I believed in Santa Claus the most. However, on one fateful Christmas Eve, my beliefs were shattered. As my father and I were driving home from Pizza Hut, I kept telling him to drive faster so I could get home in time to see Santa Claus. I felt like I took the red pill and awoke from The Matrix. This one event transformed me from a naive, gullible kid to a skeptic. I lost my sense of magic.…
