Caralyn Buehner's Snowmen At Night
Snowmen at Night
Inspired by the book Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner.

Every year on Christmas Eve, I always wonder the same thing. Do you ever wonder what snowmen do at night? I think they take your sled. Then they sled down the street, through the park, until they reach the town. Then they will get all warmed up to let the contest begin!
They all start making pets out of snow. They all try their best, because whoever has the best pet gets to take their pet home! These are some of the names they choose for their pets: Snowflake, Taffy, Crystal, and Angel. Wow! It’s a tie! The creators of Snowflake and Taffy win! And they choose . . . Snowflake and Taffy!
After a bit of a celebration, they make their way to the frozen lake to do tricks on ice, they even call it “Snowmen on Ice.” While the snowmen are doing tricks on ice, they don’t realize that the snow pets have come to life! Taffy, Snowflake, and all the other snow pets realize that their adventure has just began. So they all wander off, but Taffy and Snowflake decide to stay together. They find one of the sleds.

“Trust me,” says Snowflake with a positive look.
So they take a risk; they slide down the mountain. Taffy doesn’t look like she is having fun, but Snowflake is yelling, “Waahhoooo!” all the way down. They finally reach the bottom of the mountain. Taffy looks as if she is about to puke, but she knows she has to keep going.
They try to find the other snow pets. “Look!” says Taffy. She points at the snow pets. They are watching the ski races. Taffy and Snowflake sat down with all the snow

Snowball is very inventive, he strives to make new innovations on the farm. For example, “He talked learnedly about field drains, silage, and basic slag, and had worked out a complicated scheme for all the animals to drop their dung directly in the fields, at a different spot every day, to save the labour of cartage.” Snowball comes up with these schemes by himself and presents them to the animals. He has read books…

In chapter 17, the snow queen, Rachel and Brooks are living off “...oats, flour, and rice until [Rachel’s] mom gets [there].” Rachel and Brooks have to “...walk… down the only trail, until the the rivers freeze solid.” When traveling the trail Rachel makes sure that her and Brooks stop every once in awhile to scan the horizon for any movement that maybe bears. When Rachel scans the area she “particularly watch[s] for movement, not just for animals themselves but also of branches they may have brushed.”. They then continue to walk on, up the river, back to the house. Rachel see that both stoves are full and the catch ladder is leaning up against the house, while looking through her monocle. She find the roundest rocks she can find and starts to juggle, with the “snatching from above” and the “behind the back” juggling tricks. She then puts three sticks into the fire, pulling them out and throwing them towards the sky, she is juggling fire. (As mentioned earlier in the book juggling helps calm Rachel and helps her focus on her thoughts.) On their way home, when it is snowing, over Brooks and Rachel’s tracks is…

The ideal, eternal engine becomes short-lived, as the train explodes and brings down all the life within it as well. Only two young tail children, Yona and Timmy, survive and they are finally exposed to the supposedly deadly snow outside (Snowpiercer 2:00:19). Yet, the last image that the audience sees is the polar bear amongst the barren ice age, signifying that life persists and that Yona and Timmy may survive outside. Using this as a resolution to the failed Curtis Revolution is Joon-ho's way to show the decline of the system that keeps Snowpiercer running. As the train is burning in ruins, the appearance of the polar bear becomes a symbol of the triumph of nature over the engine and therefore the entire system it controlled. This reveals…

When perusing “Little Snow-White” from a feminist perspective it is evident that the purpose of the story is to “shape girls perceptions to conform to a gendered identity through stereotypical characters like the wicked mother and beautiful, helpless daughter” (Mikkijoiner). Snow White is recognized only for her beauty and ability to do housework; presented as an attractive, “demure and submissive” female (Mikkijoiner).…

Footprints sound crunchy but there are no echoes on a calm wintry night. The snow absorbs all sound and the animals are hiding and hibernating, keeping warm in their nests and sleeping peacefully. People are not rushing on a calm wintry night. Throw a pinecone in the fire and blues and greens are added to the flames. Hissing and crackling when snow flakes hit the fire.
