SMS Based Wireless E-Notice Board

Abstract – In this technical paper sms based wireless e-notice board explains how to establish an effective and reliable communication between a mobile phone and a microcontroller using GSM modem. This GSM based e-notice board has various applications used in several domains including banks, stoke exchanges, traffic control, public advertisements, educational sector i.e., in schools and colleges etc. In all the above mentioned applications we will use a GSM MODEM, but with a little change in hardware. Along with this I will explain you how this applications are used in low time-to-market and how to upgrade the software resulting low NRE(Non recurring Engineering). This technical paper plays a prominent role in the state-of-the-art scenario to develop authentic and pocket friendly products where the real time market is relentlessly shrinking. Keywords – GSM, microcontroller, MODEM ,software, mobile communication , bridge- rectifier, transformer ,interfacing ,SIM, LCD, traffic control. I. INTRODUCTION Wireless communication has announced its arrival on big stage and the world is going mobile. We want to control everything and without moving an inch. This remote control electronic notice board is possible through Embedded systems. The use of "Embedded system in communication" has given rise to many interesting applications that ensures comfort and safety to human life. GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) is globally accessed by more than 212 countries and territories. Global system for mobile communication is optimized for duplex voice telephony. GSM, initially developed for the replacement of first generation (1G) technology, now it is upgraded for second generation (2G) technology and third generation (3G) technology[1].
With the alliance of microcontroller, GSM MODEM could be further used for some of very innovative applications including, GSM based home security system, GSM based robot control, GSM based DC

Since the introduction of the first mobile phone in 1924, there has been a steady climb in developing and enhancing, the mobile phone and its supporting technologies. The cellular network infrastructures as well as service providers have been hard at work; in making sure they are providing the best service as well as devices. The infrastructure alone has gone through several life cycles. Which is required in order providers to keep up with growth and technology changes. Wireless cellular providers, at one point offered services that ran off analog frequencies. Today the wireless networks are built off of an all-digital network, which is considered to be in its 3rd generation. 3rd generation technologies include GSM, GPRS, UMTS and CDMA.…

Abstract— This is the model for displaying notices in colleges on electronic notice board by sending messages in form of SMS through mobile; it is a wireless transmission system which has very less errors and maintenance. The hardware board contains microcontroller AT89c52 at the heart of the system. The microcontroller is interfaced with GSM Modem via MAX232 level convertor. It is used to convert RS232 voltage levels to TTL voltage levels and vice versa. The hardware also has a 64K EEPROM chip AT24C64. This EEPROM is used to store the timings and messages to be displayed. Hardware also contains a real time clock DS1307 to maintain track of time. A 16x2 Character LCD display is attached to microcontroller for display. Microcontroller coding will be done using Embedded C and Kiel. PC Coding will be done using Visual Basic. Multiple Users are authorized to update notices on the electronic notice board by providing them password. We can use a PC with an administrator for monitoring the system.…

We design and test micro-watt energy-harvesters inspired by tree trunks swaying in the wind. A uniform flow vibrates a linear array of four cylinders affixed to piezoelectric energy transducers. Particular attention is paid to measuring the energy generated as a function of cylinder spacing, flow speed, and relative position of the cylinder within the array. Peak power is generated using cylinder center-to-center spacings of 3.3 diameters and flow speeds in which the vortex shedding frequency is 1.6 times the natural frequency of the cylinders. Using these flow speeds and spacings, the power generated by downstream cylinders can exceed that of leading cylinders by more than an order of magnitude. We visualize the flow in this system by studying the behavior of a dynamically matched flowing soap film with imbedded styrofoam disks. Our qualitative visualizations suggest that peak energy harvesting occurs under conditions in which vortices have fully detached from the leading cylinder. & 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.…

In cellular service there are two main competing network technologies: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). Today, most major cellular carriers use either CDMA or GSM. There are camps on both sides that firmly believe either GSM or CDMA architecture is superior to the other. This section will explore the technical capabilities of CDMA and GSM; where and how they are used, how security is addressed, advantages and disadvantages, and what the future holds for each of these cellular technology standards.…
