Abstract Debates continue about the access young children have to technological devices, given the increasingly accessible and available technology in most developed countries. Concerns have been expressed by parents/caregivers and researchers, and questions have been raised about possible risks and benefits of these devices on young children who, in some instances, may be accessing these devices daily. Levin (2013) states that it is as if children are being remote controlled by the scripts of others (television, videos, electronic toys) which undermine children’s abilities to create their own learning scripts. This study investigated 1,058 parents’/caregivers’ views of

Ms. Karen Devos indicated that although her children are over 20 years of age, she realized the impact that technology will have on the future, when one of her children was only able to tell time with a digital clock. In her opinion, she feels technology changes often, and to remain competitive, we must keep up with the changes. This is positive for the children only because, children under the age of 5 are like ‘sponges’, in which they are able to learn and grasp the majority of the things that are taught to them.…

In my paper, I will be agreeing with the claim that technology has had a large, farfetched, impact on society today. I believe that it not only hurts but it also hinders communication and affect the way that children behave. I plan to argue that the theory I will be supporting is accurate and true based on facts, evidence and experience. I plan to argue that although some may say that technology has no impact on children, they are the ones most vulnerable to act on what they see and hear. Parents can have only so much control over their children but they cannot control what the child thinks or does when he or she is not in the presence of the parents.…

When thinking of technology, many words spring to mind: innovative, fun, futuristic, essential. These positive words, however, do not encompass the whole of the issue of technology in the lives of young children. Technology, such as tablets, computers, smartphones, television, etc., has become so essential in life that it has been forgotten how to live without it, and it is this attitude that can be pushed onto the next generation of children. As soon as young children are able to grasp items, they are given a tablet, or put in front of a screen, instead of playing traditionally, with plush toys, imaginary play, or outside, in a sandpit, playing…

This technology revolution sparked a debate on children’s use of technology. Children are constantly using iPads, iPhones, tablets, and other computerized devices. By over exposing children to technology, they are being robbed of the mental stimulation that comes from doing real, non computerized, activities. It has gotten to the point where one can see a two-year-old navigate an iPhone with ease but struggle to speak. Sixty-nine percent of children aged two to five can use a computer mouse, but only eleven percent can tie their own shoelaces (Generation Tech More Kids Can Play Computer Games than Ride a Bike). Also, children are at an all time low in the creativity department because of the lack of chances to practice their creativeness. The social interactions worsen due to the fact that children would rather communicate over the internet and via text message than speak face to face. In order to be sure that children get the proper building blocks for their future education, we must limit children’s use to technology.…

However, other family members ended up doing it, as Vicente’s [PT1b8] grandfather and Mateus’ [PT6b8] father, who had already bought the first ones against the mothers’ wishes. Some children that received new tablets, like Mateus [PT6b8] and Ana [PT9g8] have parents with positive perceptions regarding the usage of technologies by the kids.…
