Similarities Between President Trump And Obama
There are many differences and similarities when it comes to President Trump and President Obama. One is a very successful business man with little experience in politics, and the other is an experienced politician. The thing that brings them together is both of their desires to make the country better the way that the feel it should. It is not entirely possible to base an entire Presidency off what the President says in their Inaugural Address, but that is a starting point. While focusing on similar issues in their respected Inaugural Addresses, President Trump focuses more on the benefit of the people than President Obama did.

Trump became President of the United States of America. For the past year, the nation’s news channels have been flooded with information and video on President Trump. This made it no surprise how his Inaugural Address was going to go. Like most Presidents before him, he started out the speech by acknowledging the former Presidents, and other distinguished guessed at the ceremony. After saying thank you to President Obama and his family, President Trump did not waste any time getting down to business. He started going into detail about how it did not matter who won the election, because it always seemed the people always lost. That Washington, and those politicians have been basking in the glory of all their success, but the citizens of the United States of America were the ones suffering. “Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington DC and giving it back to you, the people.” (Trump) This is the first of three times in his speech that President Trump talks about

    Right off the bat you can see some of the similarities between Obama and Regean’s speeches. The first of these similarities is how they address their colleagues in the beginning. In the body of their speech they both talk about freedom for all and peace. Another common theme of both of the speeches are how they are not tied down to a particular party, the birthrights of Americans, and the benefits of entrepreneurship. The differences start to show when Regean gets into specifics on national security. Obama did not really get too into what exactly he was going to do about national security during his term but instead used literary devices to get across the main idea of his plan. Regean, on the other hand, spend a whole page describing his plan for keeping peace with the Soviet Union. Both presidents had different ideas for national security, but as for social change, they seem to share some common ground. They both express how they wish for everyone to be treated equally. For Obama, this was for equal treatment of homosexual Americans instead of equal treatment of people of different races, as it was for Regean, but the idea is the same as it was back then. One last difference that was present for the entire speech was the way they spoke. Regean spoke in a very clear and direct way that made the speech sound more wooden and like it was written by a committee rather than a person. Obama’s speech said everything in a roundabout way and made use of broad statements and literary devices.     In his opening he alludes and appeals to the listeners sense of capitalism by referencing the founding fathers view of a bold declaration of independence with the backing of God (par. 42). By orientating the greatness and boldness of America with the will of God, he brings positive emotions to the surface. Clinton also states the nation’s need for each individual to rely on each other, because no one man can change a country alone (par. 38). He unifies the country with these words, by exemplifying the countries interdependence on each individual. Also, he discusses change in an anthropomorphic way, stating that we must make change or friend (par. 13). By comparing how we adapt to change in technology to how one develops friends or enemies, he draws on listeners past experiences and emotions in dealing with people. This appeal is designed to suggest that each individual has the choice on whether or not change will be his or her friend, making the listener feel the need to embrace change as Clinton has stated. He draws on a sense of nationalism in his speech by giving the democratic government of the United States an enormous compliment by stating “Our democracy must be not only the envy of the world but the engine of our own renewal (par. 19).” This statement not only makes the assumption that a government is the envied by the rest of the world, but also further states that it will shape the United States as it changes to flourish in the new era. This resounding statement evokes a strong sense of confidence and national pride by making each individual who was apart of the democratic process feel as though they have played a role in the best political system possible.
