One of the many wonders of Cebu is the Simala Shrine. The place is known for the miraculous Virgin Mary where people usually pray for the success of their career. Simala church is located in Sibonga, Cebu. I had just visited Simala Church last summer and its architectural design was very awesome. It really looks like a palace to me because of its elegant structure and you would think that it looks like a Vatican church. There are lots of mural paintings in that church but that picture above was the only one who caught my attention most. That mural painting shows the Apparitions of Mary.
Mona Lisa Smile
1. What is art according to the discussion in the movie? Art have standards, techniques, compositions, colors and subjects. Art isn’t art unless someone tells it is. But art will be art as long as you consider it by yourself as an art. We need to look beyond and open our minds to new ideas because in there, we can appreciate what do really art means.
2. What are the similarities of Ms. Katherine Watson and Mona Lisa? According to my research, Mona Lisa is a half-length portrait of a woman by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci, which has been acclaimed as the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about and the most parodied work of art in the world. Actually I don’t have any other idea about her but there are some similarities that Mona Lisa and Ms. Katherine Watson I could pointed out. On the movie Mona Lisa Smile, there was a part there where Ms. Watson became the topic of an article on Wellesley College school paper which was written by Betty Warren, one of her students. All the students there talk about her and like Mona Lisa, she was also been in the minds of every person. Ms. Watson is always open to her students and she is willing to help them. Like on the portrait of Mona Lisa, she sits uprightly with her cross hands placed near her lower abdomen that seems that she is welcome to hear anybody.
3. Should painting look like real? It is the artist's choice. Sometimes, un-realistic elements can draw more attention to certain details. Painting in a realistic manner shows skill and can depict beauty, but art is the pursuit or more than that. An artist carefully considers their goals in what they’d like to paint. For example, in a portrait of a person, do we always see a detailed background? Sometimes we do, but other times we just see indistinct colors or meaningless patterns and this is not realistic, but it helps the person to be seen as the focal point.

The church of the Sagrada Familia is a five-nave basilica. The central nave rises above the others significantly. Each nave is a door that is assigned to the unfinished glory facade.
