Discrimination is about treating somebody differently based on a particular trait. Derived from the Latin descrimire, this selective distinction is based on an irrationality that overlooks merit, leading to a life of restrictions and loss of privileges for the victim.
Discrimination may broadly encompass varied areas like age, disability, pay, harassment, national origin, pregnancy, race, religion, sex and sexual harassment. Usually the victim is not actually harmed but just audaciously treated worse than his/her peer for some arbitrary reason.
