Should The Holland Lops Have Hiding Place?
Rabbits are classified as prey species so individuals must have the ability to control their environment, therefore hiding places must be incorporated to reduce their stress levels. Each individual must have their own hiding place with both an entrance and exit so dominant individual cannot inflict injuries on the subordinates within their environment. The Holland Lops should have the ability to escape from one another in their accommodation and exercising area during stressful situations. Rabbits with high stress levels are more susceptible to illness so specific techniques should be applied to reduce unnecessary stress, for instance creating a strict feed resume, ensuring compatibility between potential pairings and ensuring their accommodation

In the book, “A Sea of Grass,” by Outwater, she delivers a strong argument as to why prairie dogs are beneficial to the grassland ecosystem. Prairie dogs create habitats for other species, because over 200 species live nearby prairie dog burrows. The burrows are never built all the same. Some have special pockets, turn-around rooms, and others have chambers with grass. The temperature underground is convenient for species living there, being as it is warm in winter, and cooler in the summer. Outwater presents a valid reason for protecting the rodents. For example, she states,” In the process of constructing their towns of tunnels, the prairie dogs once moved tons of subsoil above ground, where they mixed it with top soil and organic matter..”(Outwater 74). Many species benefit from this churning of the soil because it creates grasses which are richer in protein. The prairie dogs also help to increase the amount of water that makes it underground, which enhances the productivity of the soil. Concurrently, more water goes into rivers and streams. Another component of prairie dogs is that they are social, loving creatures. They engage in their own communication. When they see a predator, they make a bark that signals all the dogs around to protect…

Ryan Powers Dr. Benita Dilley CATA 235: Small Group Communication March 21, 2006 Book: Janis, Irving L. Groupthink. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1982 Executive Summary: In this book Janis writes about the group phenomena known as groupthink. He breaks down the some of the reasons why groupthink occurs and gives theories, implications, and applications of groupthink. Also, he connects his findings on groupthink to political fiascoes and demonstrates that groupthink is the leading cause behind these mishaps. Some of his examples are from foreign policy fiascoes such as the The Bay of Pigs, The Korean War, Pearl Harbor, Vietnam, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Since this presentation is very short and limited I have chosen to focus directly on the Bay of Pigs fiasco and show how Janis portrays it as a product of groupthink.…

I chose Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers (1994) because I was intrigued by the similarities between humans and animals in regards to their responses to acute and chronic stress. As a medical professional, I feel that I have a strong background in human physiology and therefore could relate to this book. It did not disappoint. This book is written by Robert M. Sapolsky, a professor of biological sciences, as well as neurology and neurological sciences at Stanford University. As a neuroendocrinologist, he has done extensive research in the area of hormonal response to stress and their effects on the body. As a research associate for the National Museums of Kenya, he spends time studying baboons in their natural habitat and the stressors that they endure along with stress related illnesses that their environment may bring about. In Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers, Sapolsky examines the adverse effects of long-term stress and the associated physical and mental damage it can cause.…

Fur-bearing animals that are killed to fulfill the sources needed for the fur industry are raised in fur farms, and eighty five percent of the skins that are used in fur industry come from fur factory farms (Inside the Fur Industry). Animals that live captive in these fur farms are condemned to go through agonizing moments and brutal treatments, until the moment they get skinned with the most horrifying methods. In fur factories, small animals such as foxes, minks, raccoons and rabbits spent their lives in small cages, and in many cases multiply animals are forced to share a small cage. These cages do not offer protection from the weather conditions, and the hygiene is miserable with feces falling in water and food, because there is another animal…

There are very little animals on earth who can work together like Meerkats do. These miniature members of the mongoose family work together in groups as large as 40. Whether it’s finding food, looking out for predators, or watching the babies, everyone has a job. Meerkats live in the northern tip of South Africa, as well as various other deserts and grasslands. They use burrows for protection, digging them out with their long sharp claws. A full mob can live in up to 5 burrows at once. These burrows help protect the Meerkats from intense heat, hungry predators, and a variety of other things.…

    Escaped Nazis

May 1, 1945 German officials announced the death of Adolph Hitler and his wife who both allegedly committed suicide in the bunker. Till this day, Hitler’s body has never been produced as proof of his death. What really happened to Hitler? It is said that his death was a lie and that him and his wife fled Berlin to hide out in Argentina to participate in an operation called “operation Paperclip” after the war to help recruit Nazi scientist. This was an agreement between the soviet unions and Americans to split the scientist of Nazi Germany who were extremely intelligent; they were given full immunity for any war crimes they had committed and where able to live on U.S. soil and work for its government. There were rumors of Hitler living out in the open as a man of the people. Later reports of him were come across by the F.B.I. that he arrived by submarine and was hiding out in the foothills of the southern Andes. Some question if they let him stay hidden or if they used him in a plot of their own against the soviets I believe that this is an unreasonable and outrageous conspiracy. All humans that were threats to the United States were hunted down like Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. My question is why would someone like Hitler be treated any differently? Contacts on most of these reports are anonymous and/or unidentified. There are many different reports on Hitler after the war none of which had any similar context of his where about. It was also said that Hitler had his own plan to plant the seed of the new Nazi party in America. Some say he was in South America not hiding out but mobile and active planning to take over America. There are nothing but claims, questions, theories and assumptions. No factual reports, footage and/or pictures. I believe that Hitler’s body wasn’t produced for proof because it is seen as disrespect to unbury a body that has put to rest.…
