So, first of all, what are performance enhancing drugs (PEDs)? PEDs are chemicals / substances that are created to be consumed by athletes so that they gain a physical advantage in the performance. These drugs are normally stimulants that make you more energetic or it can accelerate the blood's oxygen delivery and muscle growth. The most popular type of PEDs are the steroids which can cause acne, breast development and in extreme cases heart attacks and liver failure. Athletes are known to take performance enhancing drugs since far back in the 776 BC at the original olimpic games from the ancient Greeks period.
