Should N.Y Legalize Casino Gambling?
New York should legalize casino gambling in it municipal. Casino is a facility where people go to have fun and earn money. The industry that is responsible for the casino is the gaming industry, Casinos are most commonly built near or combined with hotels, restaurants, retail shopping, cruise ships or other tourist attractions site. Casinos are mostly brighten and decorated with lights of colors because it has to attract people to it. Casinos have gaming like poker, craps, black jack, slots, roulettes, pai gow poker, and keno, wheel of fortune, baccarats and bingo. The most popular off it is the poker and the slots.. The most popular place known for casino gambling is Las Vegas which has some of the famous and big casinos like the MGM Grand and The Bellagio. Casinos earn more …show more content…
Some of the states that Nevada, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Iowa etc. States that have legalized casino gambling generate high revenue from it. Gambling has become a $40 billion dollar a year industry in the United States. Much percentage of people who visit cities or states which have legalized casino gambling’s gamble. States like Mississippi generate revenue of $609 Million to the state, New Jersey $296 million, Nevada $556 Million and Connecticut $200 million. Even at the year of 1996 29.6 billion people visited Las Vegas ant about 95% of them gambled in casinos which help to raise the revenue of the state. The number of visitors to the new casino entertainment complex, New York, New York in the first two months of its opening equaled the visitor volume for all of Las Vegas.     The expansion of legalized gambling poses a number of issues for policymakers. Two related issues, which have not been dealt with extensively from a public policy perspective, are examined in this commentary: state responsibility for addressing pathological and problem gambling, and the legal status and regulation of Internet gambling. A review of the recommendations of the 1998 National Gambling Impact Study Commission on pathological and problem gambling as well as state policies and practices indicates that little has been accomplished in dealing with the need for education, prevention, and treatment. Confusing and contradictory legislation and policies abound. Internet gambling flourishes, and federal and state governments are ambivalent about legalizing it. Both problem gambling and regulation of Internet gambling urgently need attention. The legalization and regulation of commercial gambling involves a wide range of public policy issues. These include such matters as how jurisdictions decide to legalize gambling in the first place, and what forms of gambling to legalize (e.g., lotteries, casinos, pari-mutuel racing, bingo). Another policy issue faced by jurisdictions that already have some form of legal gambling is the decision of whether or not to expand existing forms or add new ones. Once gambling has been legalized, jurisdictions face the issue of how to regulate it. For gambling businesses to succeed, gamblers need to be confident that the games are honest and that they will be paid if they win. One role of regulatory agencies is to ensure that gambling activities occur in such a manner that these conditions are met. Decisions about all these matters are made in a highly politicized environment and are shaped by a variety of competitive forces.
